I am on my first run through the “Apocryphal” books. I’ve only made it through a couple of them, but so far for me they seem to be disjointed and not fit with the rest. Now I haven’t read the entire OT, so maybe they fit better with some of the later books. Guess I’ll have to wait and see.
I know what you mean by disjointed, especially Tobit and Judith, its not the same feel/tone as the books most people are used to. I will admit some parts are very boring or confusing, but just get through them. The Tobit, Judith and Additions to some books are mostly stories. 1&2 Macabees are historical.

The ones i am mostly talking about (and the ones you will probably like most) are Wisdom, Sirach, and Baruch, they are great, you can tell the authors are well grounded in the Old Testament teaching. They are good reading, some places are exceptional. The go very well with the Psalms and Proverbs…thats why they are in the same section as Ps and Pv!

I may be misunderstanding you, in which case sorry, but I did not mean to infer that the NT WAS a textbook. I was merely providing an example of a book that need not have a beginning, middle and end.
Actually, I think we ARE on the same wavelength 🙂
