Did the Holy Father speak out against Harry Potter?

I heard once that the Holy Father spoke out against the Harry Potter books and said that they take children away from the church. I personally am not comfortable with the books but I want to do some research on the Harry Potter controversy for myself, especially since my boyfriend does not agree and thinks the books are fine. Can anyone recommend some good resources/literature on the controversy from a Christian/Catholic perspective? I want to know more about this issue.
