In his “Principles of Catholic Theology” in which he says such things as “The Resurrection cannot be an historical event in the same sense as was the Crucifixion”
thanks
thanks
Your faith must be pretty shaky if it gets troubled by hearsay!im sorry folks, but im really perplexed by this comment by our pope,to the point it’sreally bothering me . I feel my faith his been hindered to some degree. Id like a Catholic who knows the faith well , give me an answer as to why the holy father would say this??
Just the phrase taken out of context says to me what rwoehmke posted: the Crucifixion is historically cited outside of Sacred Scripture; the Resurrection is not. That’s all. He’s talking about history, it seems. Not about faith in Sacred Scripture, Sacred Tradition.IT SEEMS TO be suggesting how ever that the ressurection didnt happen like the cruxcification did.
It would be nice to see a couple three paragraphs before I’d get too disturbed.here it is “The Resurrection cannot be a[n] historical event in the same sense as [was] the Crucifixion …” Principles of Catholic Theology; Building Stones for a Fundamental Theology, page 186
I guess we need to buy the book, but i find this very distrubing
He said it’s not a historical event, not that it isn’t a real event. The bombing of Hiroshima was a historical event. The destruction of the Berlin Wall was a historical event. My thirteenth birthday party was not.here it is “The Resurrection cannot be a[n] historical event in the same sense as [was] the Crucifixion …” Principles of Catholic Theology; Building Stones for a Fundamental Theology, page 186
I guess we need to buy the book, but i find this very distrubing
