Did Vatican II change the sacraments of confession and Eucharist?

Did Vatican 2 change anything about confession or receiving the Eucharist, a member in my men’s group says that the rules were lightened up to ease the rush of people confessing on Sat

In 1964 Pope Paul VI changed the fast before receiving the Eucharist to one hour. Previously it had been three hours. The Second Vatican Council also revised the Rites for the sacraments, including confession.

The reduction is the time of fasting was obviously done to encourage more people to receive communion. All of the Rites for sacraments were revised to make ensure the spiritual needs of the faithful were being met by the sacramental Rites:

1. With the passage of time, however, there have crept into the rites of the sacraments and sacramentals certain features which have rendered their nature and purpose far from clear to the people of today; hence some changes have become necessary to adapt them to the needs of our own times. For this reason the sacred Council decrees as follows concerning their revision.

1. The rite and formulas for the sacrament of penance are to be revised so that they more clearly express both the nature and effect of the sacrament.

Neither of the small changes to certain aspects of these sacraments would have any discernible effect on “the rush of people confessing on Sat.”
