Did Vatican really name Benny Hinn a "Patron of the Arts"???

This report from CBN can’t really be true, can it?

Megatelevangelist Benny Hinn, who’s had some serious marital difficulties and now is accused of an affair with a female evangelist, talked on the air to his followers of how he was not being unfaithful to his estranged spouse by going off to Rome with a female minister friend; no, he took her there because “the Vatican” named him a “Patron of the Arts,” whose supposed job is to enlist other very rich people’s patronage for the Vatican’s art exhibits.

I for one find this alibi extremely suspicious.

Can anyone shed any light on this bizarre story?:confused:
 
from what ive read the vatican quote of hinns (as other quotes) was taken from the national enquirer.
 
CBN is reporting that he made the statement about being a Vatican arts patron in his response to the Enquirer’s accusations during a special message on his show.

The link in the original post goes to the CBN report plus a video of Hinn’s show, but I didn’t have the patience to look at the whole video.

Perhaps if someone has the courage to watch the entire video, he will be able to confirm or deny what CBN is reporting Hinn said.
 
I’m not sure of this, but perhaps the Vatican Museums named Hinn a Patron of the Arts.
The Patrons of the Arts in the Vatican Museums is a select group of people dedicated to the preservation and perpetuation of the vast and unique collection of art contained in the Vatican Museums.

As far as I can tell, this is on the level of becoming a “Gold Circle Member” for your high school alumni building fund.

According to the **Patrons of the Arts in the Vatican Museums **website (vatican-patrons.org/home.html), you can join via email and a check, like $500 a year, tax-deductible of course.

All sorts of nonprofit organizations - museums in particular - do this. The point is to raise money for the organization over and above other sources of income like admission fees or freewill donations at the door that simply do not cover other expenses. For substantial contributions, an organization will etch your name in a brick in the patio, or name an entire wing after you depending on how many zeroes are on your check. You can also get perks like free tickets to opening-night IMAX movies, exclusive members-only previews of special exhibits, or wine tastings.

As silly as all this sounds, it’s a ploy that I totally agree with and support all the way, because nonprofits really do depend on rich people’s money.

Benny Hinn is just one of thousands of donors worldwide whose generosity will help guarantee the preservation of world heritage for the next generation and beyond. He is also inflating this way out of proportion.

I don’t blame the Vatican Museums, which must be an extremely expensive operation, for having a chapter of Patrons.

What I do object to is someone apparently using this membership as cover for shady activities. That’s not right.

It’s also wrong to say “the Vatican” gave him some title when he just sent in a check to a fund-raising group for the Museums.

I think the Vatican Press Office needs to clarify this. A big Protestant word-faith evangelist should not be allowed to give the impression that the Vatican supports him. Extreme Prot blogs are using this news to paint Hinn as the Pope’s surrogate.

I’m not condemning Mr Hinn for what people are saying he did, I just think we ought to be crystal clear about such things.

Somehow I seriously doubt that Benny Hinn received any kind of award from the Vatican. The man embraces heresy.

I will then. He’s trying to blur the lines so he can get Catholic donations. Period.
