Did we sin?

This past sunday we brought one of my son’s friends to church with us. Not paying attention, this 12 year old lutheran took communion. My husband is now convinced that this is our sin as we were responsible for him. What is the church’s stand on this type of accident? Who is responsible for the sin??

We can’t sin by accident. Sin is always deliberate. For an act to qualify as a mortal sin, it must be objectively sinful, the person must know that it is sinful, and the person must freely choose to act.
