Did you know that Jesus celebrated Passover?

Luke 22:15

And he said to them, “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.”

Did you know that the Last Supper was a Passover meal?

Matthew 26:18

He replied, "Go into the city to a certain man and tell him, ‘The Teacher says: My appointed time is near. I am going to celebrate the Passover with my disciples at your house.’ "

Did you know that during the Passover meal that Jesus said to “do this in remembrance of me”?

Did you know that the Passover is an amazing prophecy about Jesus?

During the original Passover, God had the people of Israel kill a lamb and put the blood of the lamb on their doorposts.

And what are most doorposts made of?

Wood. And wood comes from a tree.

So in the Passover we see that the blood of the lamb on the tree covered them from the wrath of God.

And what is the message of the cross?

“The blood of the lamb on the tree covers us from the wrath of God.”

Did you know that when Jesus returns to this earth that He will celebrate Passover, Sabbath and all the other Biblical festivals?

If you doubt that, then please read Ezekiel 45-46, Zechariah 14 and Isaiah 66.

So join me this weekend in celebrating the sacrifice and resurrection of Jesus the Messiah during Passover.

Mand I attended a Christ in the passover and it was awesome. The parallels to Christ are undeniable.

I go to a charismatic methodist church and we had an evening before easter of a Russian Jews for Jesus gentleman, who came and took us through the passover and how it shows confirms Jesus’ death on the cross.

It also showed me how the Catholic mass has taken alot from the passover ceremony, in the traditions of the altar, the host etc

With a little bit of effort and imagination, I’m sure anything could be turned into a prophecy about Jesus. Incredible means ‘unbelievable’, by the way.

The passover ceremony has no altar as the Temple was destroyed. That’s why there’s only the shank bone called the Zeroah which symbolizes the lamb. The bread which is eaten after the seder meal along with the 3rd cup of redemption symbolizes the body and blood of the lambs that were slain before the Exodus. The altar used at RCC mass is because the Eucharist is still viewed as a sacrifice.

Actually the word “Easter” is due to English influence. The Church never came up with the word “Easter”. The Church referred to the feast of the Resurrection of the Lord as Pascha, which is a transliteration of the Hebrew word pesach - or Passover.

The Eastern Orthodox churches still refer to it as Pascha and I am sure there are Eastern Catholic churches that refer to it as Pascha as well.

Actually, we do. The offical name is Pascha. It is only in the U.S., England and a few other places in the Reformation countries that this corruption has occured. The Catholic Church knows it as Pascha.

Easter was designed to be the first Sunday after Passover; But we’ve made a mess of the calculations over the centuries.

Now, chrisitanity is so split up, the logistics of pulling everybody in together is too hard.

I don’t know if that’s exactly true. I think it was a prepatory meal -I think it was Jewish custom that the location be prepared by removing the leaven from it just before Passover (see Exodus 12:15).

The night that Jesus died was the actual Passover meal. I think that’s why St Paul said “Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed.” (see 1 Corinthians 5:7). That’s why Christ is known as the “lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world” (see John 1:29).

But I agree with everything else; It’s truly a remarkable prophecy. The timing of the crucifixion was impeccable. If He was cruicified any other day, the prophecy wouldn’t be the same.

I agree too that it is very interesting that the two biggest Jewish religious ceremonies in the Old Covenant - the passover and the temple sacrifice, could be identified and paralleled through Jesus’ death so closely.

It then seems an incredible fit that they can both be combined to produce the biggest Christian religious ceremony - the Mass, in what christians call the New Covenant.
