Actually, he is more accurate than most Protestants.

He understands that when we say “works”, it is done by grace from God. Unfortunately, he still rejects that, and he is wrong for doing so.

He accurately states our sources of doctrine. Unfortunately, he still rejects it.

He understands that orginal sin is forgiven through Baptism, and that by mortal sin we lose all our graces, and that the priest is given power to forgive our sins. Unfortunately, he still rejects it.

He understands that anyone who denies the authority of the Pope is denying Christ who sent him. Unfortunately, he still denies it, since he denies the Pope represents Jesus.

In short, most of what he has stated about the Catholic Church is actually quite accurate, but he still rejects it!

I noticed he says “as a former Roman Catholic”, meaning he has left the Church.

This person is truly in a bad state, and is precisely the type of person who is, sadly, on the road to hell for having rejected the truth he was taught, and more - vigorously attacking it and pushing people away! 😦

He is not a poorly-informed Protestant, he is a former Catholic who, like Luther, has rejected and denied the Truth for whatever reason. What can we say that he has not already rejected?

James and Joseph, or Joses, are, as we have seen, the sons of Alpheus, or Clopas, and of Mary, the sister of Mary the Mother of Jesus, and all agree that if these are not brothers of the Saviour, the others are not. This last argument disposes also of the theory that the “brethren” of the Lord were the sons of St. Joseph by a former marriage. They are then neither the brothers nor the step-brothers of the Lord. James, Joseph, and Jude are undoubtedly His cousins. If Simon is the same as the Symeon of Hegesippus, he also is a cousin, since this writer expressly states that he was the son of Clopas the uncle of the Lord, and the latter’s cousin. But whether they were cousins on their father’s or mother’s side, whether cousins by blood or merely by marriage, cannot be determined with certainty. Mary of Clopas is indeed called the “sister” of the Blessed Virgin (John 19:25), but it is uncertain whether “sister” here means a true sister or a sister-in-law. Hegesippus calls Clopas the brother of St. Joseph. This would favour the view that Mary of Clopas was only the sister-in-law of the Blessed Virgin, unless it be true, as stated in the MSS. of the Peshitta version, that Joseph and Clopas married sisters. The relationship of the other “brethren” may have been more distant than that of the above named four.

As I often say, that is two concrete biblical examples of people listed as brothers who are not brothers of Jesus from Mary’s womb. Technically, it would work with one example and the Church teaching stands. The burden of proof falls on the perpetual virginity detractors to name an actual brother with actual proof rather than speculation.

Well, he does if by all Christians we mean all those baptized with the trinitarian baptism. But, I doubt these people would be interested in such fine distinctions, not when half-truths and distortions seem to work so well for their cause. :rolleyes:

As I see it the pope speaks for God TO all Christians (Luke 10:16) but not FOR all Christians.

There I was, having a perfectly fine day until I very foolishly went to that site. Guess I’m a glutton for punishment… I did send an e-mail to the address at the bottom, suggesting that he use quotes from the CCC for statements about Catholic doctrine instead of his own misconceptions. Just a nice polite suggestion…

Anyway, as Vicar of Christ the pope does speak for all baptized Christians, whether they realize it, or like it, or not.

Doesn’t the pope, rather, speak TO all Christians as God’s voice in the world today (Luke 10:16)? To whom does the pope speak on behalf of all Christians if he does, in fact, speak FOR all Christians?
