I saw a video that took a deeper look into the Bible and I now believe we sin every day without knowing

P.s. I’m new so I’m not sure if I put this under the right category

“The just man sins seven times a day.”
But to be a sin, you have to consciously make the decision to sin, knowing it is wrong.

More than that, we should know we are saved through Jesus Christ, which is the good news which should bring us joy, rather than despair and hopelessness.

Like one of the thing this video said was a sin was eating bacon like I don’t see that being as sin

we eat to sustain ourselves, and eating too much is gluttony Philippians 3:19 Their end is destruction; their god is the belly; and their glory is in their shame; their minds are set on earthly things.

Psalm 19:12 But who can detect their errors? Clear me from hidden faults.

To err is human, to forgive divine definition. All people commit sins and make mistakes. God forgives them, and people are acting in a godlike (divine) way when they forgive. This saying is from “An Essay on Criticism,” by Alexander Pope.

Be careful about placing too much stock in random videos on the internet

This is not an accurate way to put this. It is better to say, to be guilty of sin, one must…

There is the act, which done in ignorance does not lead to guilt but remains in itself a sin. While one might through ignorance have one’s guilt mitigated or even eliminated, we are not thereby protected from the bad personal effects of the act either.

You list your religion as “Don’t know,” and that’s ok, but it is important to understand that different religions teach different things. For some religions, eating bacon is a sin. For Catholics, it is not.

The best thing to do is to seek for truth, that way you will know whom to believe when they talk about other things, like sin. In the meantime, you already have criteria for acts to avoid committing. Try to act out of love, compassion, and mercy for yourself and others, treating others as well as you do yourself to avoid selfishness, and yourself as well as others to avoid self-destructiveness.

Welcome to CAF. You’ve got to be careful about videos you see. Check who made it and why. Sins can only be committed if you know something is wrong and do it anyway.

This was obviously not a Catholic video. Unless you are eating bacon on the church’s handful of abstinence days with full intent not to abstain from eating meat (like you didn’t just happen to forget), eating bacon is not a sin under Catholic teaching.

Hello, and welcome!

About sinning every day, & not knowing it, that’s why I’m so grateful for the sacrament of Confession. Sometimes I’m not even aware that what I’m doing is wrong.

Looking forward to reading more posts by you. You are in my prayers. Please pray for me.

Once again, as several of us have already said, this is not a Catholic video and appears to be some clickbait from a company that makes lists, and in this case went through the Bible and pulled out a bunch of stuff out of context that the Bible supposedly forbids. The idea is to get everyone discussing and watching and reposting the video so it gets more hits.

By the way - I hope you are a sincere person asking this question, and not just some troll or employee of the clickbait company trying to get more hits for the video by posting the video here.

Bottom line is, if you are trying to find out what Catholics believe, do not waste your time watching videos on the Bible or anything else that are put out by non-Catholic sources. They are likely going to be wrong. And 99 percent of videos or anything else that discuss what “the Bible says…” are going to be non-Catholic sources because Catholics do not rely solely on the Bible for their Church teaching.

I can actually see their point.
As one grows in spiritual life, it’s like a lamp on a dimmer switch being gradually turned up, and you become more and more aware of the darkness that still surrounds you.
You start to see your wounds and brokenness more clearly, and your faults and vices become more apparent.

No I’m not a troll or an employee of the channel that posted it I’m just curious on what your veiws are on it

yes your partly right, the op was not clear whether he’s speaking about ,eating bacon is a sin or eating too much of it is a sin.and here is the heading which is different and confusing again, Did you know you sin every day without knowing.
One serving of bacon at a reasonably sized meal is not gluttony
he didn’t say this either?

i was thinking about the means of sin how could eating bacon be a sin.
