Thats mortal sin. Venial sin can be committed without knowledge of its sinful behavior. How is this not common knowledge?

Yes, but it still would be a sin, just not one we’d necessarily be culpable for if committed in ignorance.

All the more reason to make more frequent use of the Sacrament of Confession that He instituted for us . Also to adhere to the mission He gave us as instruments of salvation. There is no salvation outside of the Catholic Church so it behooves us to evangelize so that all may attain the Graces that flow from the Sacreaments.
 
Yes, I know that. But you need to look at the OP. I should not of used the world only. I didn’t want to confuse the issue they were bringing up. I was attempting to keep it simple do the fact the OP is not catholic and is looking for answers. If the Op had asked about different kinds of sins committed an a day my answer would have be different.
 
There were many prohibitions placed on Israel after they made the golden calf at Mt. Sinai while Moses was away. These were placed on them due to their own hardness of heart and attachment to pagan things. These laws were, in part, intended to separate the Israelites culturally from the Pagan cultures they were used to and bring them closer to God.

Jesus brought about the fulfillment of the law. That doesn’t exactly mean the end, as if we’re disregarding it. What we mean is that Jesus brought about the internalization of the law. Rather than the law being written on paper or stone, it would be written on our hearts. We were ready to understand that it’s not what enters a man that makes him evil, but what comes from inside him. We were ready to move onto a new covenant between God and man.

Lots more can be written, but I wanted to provide you with at least a partial response, as most here seem to be rolling their eyes at the video. The video may be eye roll worthy, but if no one speaks to your questions you’re not any better off.

The Bible gives us a “salvation history”. It’s a narrative of man’s relationship with God. And in that story, man’s relationship develops, matures, and progresses. Videos like the one you found take bits and pieces from that story and take them out of context and treats them like an arbitrary list of rules.
 
I’ve never understood the sacrament of confession but that can be another topic
 
What is pagan culture aren’t they different from Christians and Catholics
 
Eating bacon is not a sin. You likely watched a video that tried to say we were still under the Old Law. We are not Jews. We are Christians. We believe in the New Covenant, hence the New Testament.
 
If you want to be technical, it was more fulfilled and abrogated.
But, to answer your question, the Old Covenant was the covenant for the Chosen people, the Jews. From this line, the Messiah came and made us neither Jew nor gentile, but one in following God. This was after time had passed upon being given the Old Law, and the surrounding gentile (ie non Jew) nations’ hard hearts soft and able to accept the Messiah.
Now we all can follow God in truth and righteousness in this age with the Kingdom of God at hand.

The Old Law pointed to Jesus Christ. Why follow a road sign if you’ve already made it to the destination?

So people just changed the Bible just like that, there for changing the word of God and making what they wanted?
 
Uh, no. How did you get that out of what I wrote? You can read the Bible. It tells us of what would happen when the Messiah comes, which is what happened when Christ came.

Well you talk about the old covenant so that means there’s a new one so the old one must have been changed
 
Though you can say it’s “different” it is more a fulfillment of the Old Covenant, which was put forward to the Jews specifically. Jesus fulfilled the Old Covenant, it’s festivals, etc. We now are under a covenant for ALL MANKIND, and not just Israel, one that includes Israelites, but also everyone else as well.
 
Not more fulfilled, but fulfilled.
For instance, consider the Seder meal. This was fulfilled by the Eucharist/last supper (see Brant Pitre’s book on the Jewish Roots of the Last Supper)
That sort of thing. Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Salvation came from the Jews, Jesus was born of a Jewish woman. And the Jews were to be a holy, set apart people. Jesus, the Son of God, was born of them! Yet, now, He has made us one to all follow Him.
