Did you see her fetus bump?

I’ve actually given up this argument. We live in a world where two men are married and girls can be boys. It wouldn’t surprise me one bit if culturally this terminology did shift.

True. Language is a powerful tool. Co-opting language paves the way for injustice. It is unjust to distort communication and deceive others.
“Marriage” is becoming a meaningless secular term that will soon apply to an elephant and a cat.
Yea, “man and woman” are losing meaning.
Insanity.

IMO as soon as you find out the sex of the unborn baby, people should just refer to him or her by name

Except that people don’t refer to very early embryos as babies. They become more and more likely to be called ‘babies’ as they get older. This very widespread human naming practice is at odds with the modern teaching of the Church, which holds it’s indistinguishable from a baby in any moral sense from the moment of conception.

The word “fetus” doesn’t offend me. It’s a scientific term.

I do get annoyed when people use fetus for embryo.

My son spent time in a NICU. It means neonatal intensive care unit. He was a “neonate”.

They are all terms for humans at various age of development.

Well, that’s not true at all. From the moment a woman gets pregnant she calls it a baby. I’ve never heard anything otherwise.

Yes and when a woman brings in her scans to show work colleagues have you ever heard her say, “Look at the photos of the embryo/fetus that is inside me”? And what would the reaction be if on seeing her scan pictures you said, “Nice looking embryo/fetus there”?
