Did your parish have a Divine Mercy service?

We did! It was great! We had a holy hour with Eucharistic Adoration. We prayed the Divine Mercy chaplet in SONG!❤️ And it was beautiful!! We also prayed the Litany of Loreto and the Litany of the Saints. We were also invited to come up and venerate the image of Divine Mercy as well. It was very moving; I felt so at peace during the entire hour! We also had confessions afterward. We had about 30-35 people attend, which was a bigger crowd than I remember having before.

Also, this morning at Mass, Father had a wonderful homily about Divine Mercy and St. Faustina.

Anyone have a great Divine Mercy service today?
 
I went to the Vigil last night, so there wasnt anything too different. But that sounds like a beautiful Service! The Church downtown had Veneration of a First Class Relic of St. Faustina, but I unfortunately wasnt able to attend. I’m glad you had a good experience! God Bless! May the Lord pour His Divine Mercy upon you and your family and friends!
 
Only four parishs within about 40 miles of me had any official celebration of Divine Mercy Sunday. It is not practiced much here in the states I guess. My parish had nothing at all. No image to venerate, nor was there mention during mass. However the church bullentin had the words printed on it with a sidebar picture of the image. Lack of knowledge is what I blame for this indiscretion. I believe that it is the responsibility of those of us to spread this devotion around. That is one of the acts of Mercy we could perform today to satisfy the obligation for a plenary indulgence.

We had a Holy Hour with the Image of Divine Mercy displayed in the sanctuary…a wonderful homily, confessions, adoration, the chaplet chanted, the Divine Mercy Praises and Benediction.
 
The parish where I am attending RCIA declared it “Holy Hilarity” Sunday instead. The deacon opened the homily with a string of jokes and puns. I was very saddened, as this is one of my favorite Sundays of the year.

We did indeed! Confessions, Mass, Chaplet at 3:00 PM, and then refreshments in the Hall. Tonight, at the regular Holy Hour, we said the Chaplet. I love this parish, and our very faithful priests, one of whom has just been transferred.😦

*No…not one word was mentioned that today was Divine Mercy Sunday. It didn’t even mention it in the bulletin? :confused:The priest gave a wonderful homily as he always does, but I was hoping there would have been at least a mention of it. *
 
We did. We had adoration, confession and the prayer of the Chaplet of Divne Mercy. It was a great service!!
 
*I wonder why some parishes didn’t opt to have a service? I thought for sure this parish would, as we recently joined because it has by far been more traditional and reverent than other parishes. It was introduced as the second sunday of Easter. But, I prayed the Chaplet today, I just love that prayer, and the story of St Faustina. My dd wants Faustina as her confirmation name. I envy those of you who had a beautiful service revolving around Divine Mercy. :o *
 
Our priest explained that it isn’t universally accepted as yet. There were large celebrations in several parishes, though, and we were urged to attend.
 
A Parish not too far from home had it and I attended. I was very pleased to see a very good turnout. Much better than I expected. A long line for Confession was there as I entered a little after the Holy Hour had started. I was glad I went to Confession on Friday to prepare for the service.

We prayed the rosary during the Holy Hour in front of the Blessed Sacrament, sang the Divine Mercy, and had Mass.

This is what I don’t understand. Why is it not universally accepted? Well I’d sure like to be a fly on the wall at Judgement day when Jesus asks someone why they didn’t celebrate this day of Mercy that He, Himself wanted!

We had the image in front of the altar and it was mentioned at Mass. After at least a couple of the Masses this weekend, they showed a video and I think prayed the chaplet.

I think there is an idea out there that the Feast of Divine Mercy is Polish Spirituality and that is why it is not adopted universally. There also seems to be a concern that this is private revelation.

Does anyone know if the Pope celebrated Divine Mercy today?

My home Parish had a column written by a lay person in the bulletin that completely missed the point. It announced that today was Divine Mercy Sunday and proceeded to give Webster’s definition of mercy and God’s mercy in our lives. All true, but no mention was made of St. Faustina, the Chaplet, or Confession.
 
Coincidentally, Pope John Paul 2 who adopted the Feast of Divine Mercy, died on that day!

Accorrding to Zenit.org (Papal news), the Pope was at His southern residence today. He did speak of the Divine Mercy Sunday, named by His beloved predeccessor, Pope John Paul II, through the revelations of St Faustina, before the Regina Caeli. His remarks are listed on this website.

Tere was a Divine Mercy service scheduled for mid-afternoon, but I attended the midday Mass and didn’'t go. I was getting a little light-headed from lack of nourshment since last night. No it was not a TLM, I’d just been on the road and not eaten.
 
Holy Hour with benediction, chaplet sung, better attendance than in past years, over 200 people (including almost all our catechists I am proud to say, and the youth group).
 
Yes we had a service at our Parish started at 2:30: Adoration, we said the chaplet along with other prayers that were specific to the Divine Mercy and veneration of the Image, also at the end we were able to go up and receive the Holy Oil and a prayer for healing. No confession though. And lots of homemade food afterwards! It looked good but I didn’t stay.

Then I went to 5:00 pm Mass at another church and the priest there also spoke of the Divine Mercy and told us the requirements to receive the indulgence, 20 days to get to confession. We said an Act of Contrition before we received Holy Communion and the prayers for the intentions for the Pope at the end of Mass.

FYI for those who did not have the Divine Mercy at your parish, we have the Divine Mercy group at our parish and they meet every Monday at 7:00 pm I’ve never been but I assume they recite the chaplet & pray for others. But I think they are the reason we have the Divine Mercy at our parish.

Also, this is the first time that I did the Divine Mercy Novena which I got from the ewtn website…
 
Our Parish has never had one, but the Passionist community 3 miles away did, and has been having them before the Church officially declared it a feast.

But I opted for the one advertised in our newspaper 30 miles away in Donegal, the weather was perfect and the Franciscan priory setting was absolutely beautiful.

A bit miffed that they only allowed 30 minutes for Confession before-hand, one priest to 100 people, eventually two more priests came out.

Anyway we had Confession at 2:30, the Chaplet at 3, followed by Mass which makes a lot of sense, as it’s supposed to be a day of Divine Mercy, and we have to receive on that day.

The priests homily was naturally about the Mercy of God…

Anyway here’s the setting in Donegal.
