Did your parish have a Divine Mercy service?

Yes we did!! We had Adoration from noon until 3, they had five priests there to hear confessions. Then we sang the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and as if that wasn’t good enough!! Scott Hahn spoke at our Church!!
He spoke later in the evening at the college in town. Two different talks by Scott Hahn in one day! It was awesome!
 
I went to the service at my Cathedral, the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament in Sacramento.

It began around 2:00pm, with 4 or 5 priests hearing confession (there were around 100 people lined around the church) Then the Chaplet at 2:45 and Mass at 3:00. We had two priests from Poland, one from near where Saint Faustina lived and died. This priest gave the homily while the other translated it into English. These priests brought with them a copy of the Divine Mercy painting and a first class relic of Saint Faustina which we were blessed with and allowed to venerate after mass.

It was a pretty great experience.
 
Well, until post 21, I thought that I would top everyone’s. 😉

Here’s what we had:
One hour of adoration
Sung Chaplet
Then Mass
Confessions before, during, after Mass (even brought in an extra priest from another parish)
Veneration of relics
Dinner in the hall
The Polish movie about Faustina, but without the horrible over-dubbing in English. Instead, we had the English subtitles. Way more beautiful to hear the Polish, because tone is always critical to a message. People were crying.

What a day.

We’re lucky to have a great priest.

(And no, this doesn’t duplicate the above post; different parish.🙂 )
 
Our parish had Divine Mercy service (confessions from 1:30pm-2:30pm; veneration of the Divine Mercy image; Gospel readings; Divine Mercy chaplet; benediction of the Blessed Sacrament). It was a very nice service. About 30 people attended.

Note: As we venerated the image of Divine Mercy, each person participating picked a piece of paper out of a basket which had written on it a corporal work of mercy we are asked to perform. I picked “Give Drink to the thirsty”. My wife picked “Admonish sinners”. Three of my four daughters picked “Visit the sick”, and my other daughter picked “Bury the dead”.

Although I admit I am disappointed in the turn out given the name of our parish is Divine Mercy Parish. We do not promote our Parish patron for this event nearly enough.
 
In my old parish, no, nothing, not one word. The priest was pretty liberal (I like him as a person, don’t get me wrong). At my new parish, yes, Adoration, Rosary, Divine Mercy Chaplet.

I like that idea of the basket with the Corpreal Works of mercy! That is fantastic! I will remember this for next year. I do plan on bugging our priest for the enite year to have a Divne Mercy Sunday at our Parish. We have to spread this devotion!

Are you serious? Even our Deacon, with his “Jesus didn’t know who He was till he was a teenager”, wouldn’t do that. Or be allowed to do that"! Those that laugh now will cry later.

I think there is an idea out there that the Feast of Divine Mercy is Polish Spirituality and that is why it is not adopted universally. There also seems to be a concern that this is private revelation.

Even a cursory review of the feast indicates it is a new form of the same devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, which is a continuation of the Mercy God has wanted to give us since the fall of Adam and Eve. Too many people are “Martha” Christians and not enough are “Mary” ones. The Octave Feast in the Judaic liturgical year which is the basis for our Catholic liturgical celebrations, is the culmination of the celebration, in this case, Easter.
 
I started this a few years back at our parish. I very much regret having to work all weekend and not being able to have a service this year. The woman who leads the rosary before Mass switched to the DM chaplet though and it was the topic of the homily.

Yes as I read online, and the Priest corrobarated, the Sacred Heart is the flower, the Divine Mercy Devotion is the fruit.

They are inter- mingled.
 
Our parish only recited between one of the Polish masses, the chaplet in Polish.
However, our diocese printed in their paper the churches that were holding devotions, so I attended one of them. It was wonderful.

We sang hymns in Latin, recited the Divine Mercy Stations, litany, chaplet, had benediction along with a formal viewing of a relic of St.Faustina. It was a very faithfilled afternoon beginning with at the 3 o’clock Mercy hour.

I like that you did the Divine Mercy Stations. This is something I just recently heard about. There is definitely growing segment of the US Catholics that are picking up on the Divine Mercy and all that it offers!

May Jesus drench up continously in His Divine Mercy!
 
Yes, we had the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament for two hours, the chaplet in song, plus veneration of the image of Jesus of Divine Mercy and a first class relic of St. Faustina. At the end of the two hours we had teens recite the chaplet again, someone gave a short explanation of the message to the 125 9th graders who joined us as a part of their “large group” then Benedication!!

and there were confessions throughtout the afternoon - three priests! Praise the Lord!

afterwards, one woman called me in tears to say her husband returned to confession after 25 years! She was so moved after years of prayer for him. WOW!!:hug1:

Our bishop even moved the “diocesan appeal” to the third Sunday after Easter instead of DMS!
 
No we didn’t but there was one nearby and I went to it…It was packed with people

I will say we did have the picture of the Divine Mercy displayed in a very prominent place
 
We did, but I only learned of it quite by accident when I went to the daily Mass on Friday. There was no mention in any bulletin in previous weeks or in the bulletin on Divine Mercy Sunday. The icon was sitting on an easel at the front of church that morning, but the fact of the service being held was only mentioned in passing. We weren’t encouraged to come or told anything about the meaning or significance of the Feast. Nothing said about all the graces Jesus had for the asking. Thankfully, I got off work early Sunday (retail MUST go on no matter what) so I could go this year. We had 1 hour of adoration and then a sung chaplet that took maybe 15 minutes. No confession (I’d gone the day before). Perhaps 30 people were there, all the elderly. And not even both of our priests. I can’t understand WHY such a chance of great graces wouldn’t be broadcast far and wide.

We also prayed the Litany of Loreto and the Litany of the Saints. We were also invited to come up and venerate the image of Divine Mercy as well. It was very moving; I felt so at peace during the entire hour! We also had confessions afterward. We had about 30-35 people attend, which was a bigger crowd than I remember having before.

Also, this morning at Mass, Father had a wonderful homily about Divine Mercy and St. Faustina.

Nope. not one word. It was mentioned that it was the Second Sunday of Easter and no mention of it in the homily. Although, there are pamphlets in the back of church with the chaplet there.
