Didache recommendation?

Hello,

I would like to ask if you can recommend an authoritative yet accessible publication of the Didache for me. As I prepare for the catechumenate, I have been reading the Catechism of the Catholic Church which refers to the Didache. I am interested in learning more about early Christianity, and the Didach seems like a good source.

Can you also recommend a commentary on the Didache which would help me understand the historical and theological context of the book?

Any book that has a collection of the writings of early Church Fathers would most likely contain the Didache. It can also be found at newadvent.org in it’s entirety under the “Fathers” link. The Didache isn’t really that long of a read and I doubt that you’d find it as a separate book. I can’t tell you if one translation is more readable than another but you should be able to find something fairly easy to understand without too much difficulty.
