Didn't get a chance to recieve communion at Good Friday mass

I was asked to help during mass and while ushering during communion an elderly lady need communion brought to her. I left to get the Deacon and by the time I returned communion was finished. Admittedly I was bothered for about two minutes, but them realized I was able to help the lady and I suddenly felt a spiritual communion.

I’m probably making too much out of it, but I wanted to share.

My sons don’t receive on Good Friday because the wine is never consecrated. They could receive the low gluten host, but they’d have to make special arrangements and neither has ever decided to do that…So we go, but they don’t receive. 🤷
 
I was looking forward to it. It’s my first Easter as a Catholic. I’m fine with what happened now.

For future reference, if you simply go speak to the priest after Mass (or the Good Friday service), it is likely he would give you Communion then. It’s not the ideal, but given the extraordinary circumstances, it’s not unheard of.
 
Didn’t think of it that way. I just thought I missed it. Very kind of you to say.
 
Of course, technically it’s not a “Mass”, but a “Service”. Some rites call it “Liturgy of the Presanctified”

I kind of know how you feel

I had a very minor half a second yesterday because the Bishop was there and I stood there as normal and nothing happend as such till I looked at him and he me and conveyed yes I am confirmed.

If that had happend two weeks ago I probably would have walked away being spiritually very low then. Yesterday it just caused that little bit of embarrassement as I refused to even look at our priest through embarrassement who was acting head server as such yesterday since he knows whats privately happening right now and may have thought I was refusing…😊
 
I did feel a little awkward and angry, but… no big deal I guess.
