My personal view is that someone in RCIA should be living as a Catholic as much as possible. That includes abstaining from meat on the Fridays of Lent.

One in RCIA needs time to adapt to Catholic practices. So fasting, abstaining etc are good and desirable which should be encouraged, but not mandatory under pain of sin.
With the Easter Vigil only a couple of weeks away the elect and candidates should be pretty well integrated into Catholic life and practices by this time.
