Difference between ICK and FSSP?

Is there much difference? I met a lovely lady on the way home from the Latin Mass and she said that the ICK tend to be slightly more ‘community based’ than the FSSP, however both still of course run parishes.

This is the first I have heard of the ICK. Unfortunately, I have nothing to share with you, but I am glad you asked the question.😃

It’s the same thing. “ICKSP” is the abbreviation of the Latin title of the FSSP.

Yes he is. Unfortunately, I don’t know much about them except that they have litugically beautiful masses. Would love to attend a mass celebrated by them. In fact, I have heard they have the most liturgically beautiful and exact (according to rubrics) TLMs.

FSSP is still FSSP in Latin (Fraternitas Sacerdotalis Sancti Petri). In fact, it is the Latin that goes with the abbreviation because in English it is the Priestly Fraternity of St Peter, which would be PFSP :D.

FSSP is still FSSP in Latin (Fraternitas Sacerdotalis Sancti Petri). In fact, it is the Latin that goes with the abbreviation because in English it is the Priestly Fraternity of St Peter, which would be PFSP :D.

Why are they called The Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest? Isn’t this like saying the Institute of Christ the King King Priest?
 
The Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest is a secular institute that follows the Salesian School of spirituality.

The Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter is a society of secular priests, but each priest follows his own spirituality like other secular men.

That’s as much as I have heard, that they like to have magnificent Masses with lots of baroque. 😃

The FSSP priests used to come up to Upstate NY to say the TLM (2004-2008), but they don’t now.

The only time I’ve seen the ICKSP priests is when some of them come to the annual ‘Pilgrimage for the Catholic Restoration’ in September, at Auriesville Shrine.

All those I’ve met are really good and faithful priests!
 
The priests of the FSSP are so helpful and knowledgeable. When I was having problems getting confirmed in my area I contacted a FSSP chapel that was about a half an hour away from my home. I had been trying without success to get confirmed for close to 5 years and in speaking to one of the priests there he was dismayed that I had been given the run around for so long and told me that my getting confirmed would only take a matter of months.

What joy I felt when I was finally confirmed! I am registered at this chapel and have been attending the Latin Mass there for the past 2 years and it is has been heaven on earth for me.

The priest who helped me get confirmed has a great devotion to St. Teresa of Avila (my patron saint) and has every first Saturday of the month meetings for those who want to become Third Order Discalced Carmelites. I have been discerning whether or not to take this big step spiritually for some time now.

In the same way the Institute is abbreviated ICRSS (Institutum Christi Regis Summi Sacerdotis). They probably wouldn’t know what ICK is in Italy.

Very few of these names translate well into English. If you look at it in Spanish, it fits.

Instituto de Cristo Rey Sumo Sacerdote

I think they’re cool. I’m prejudice. I like St. Francis de Sales and St. Benedict. These are their guides.

Interesting. I know little of Saint Francis de Sales. Now I am a bit curious.
