Oriental Orthodox Communion (as in union of churches) united to the Papacy of Alexandria, Instead of the Catholic Communion of the Holy Catholic Church united to the Papacy of Rome

There is an official pastoral provision between the Catholic Church and the Malankara Orthodox Church:

Malankara Orthodox church is a faction within the Syriac orthodox church. There are 2 factions within the syriac orthodox church in Kerala. They are
jacobite faction (Patriarchal faction)
malankara orthodox faction (Catholicos faction).

The jacobite faction is administered by the patriarch of Antioch.

The malankara orthodox faction rejects the administrative authority of patriarch of antioch and they remain as if it is a separate church. The admit the spiritual authority of patriarch of
patriarch of Antioch.

There is agreement between the original syriac orthodox church and Latin church on several matters including marriage. So marriage is possible between a person in jacobite faction and latin catholic church. Marriage is not possible betwen latin catholic and malankara orthodox. Malankara orthodox is not under the direct control of syriac orthodox church.

The difference between malankara orthodox and latin catholic is that

    Latin catholic church claims that Roman Pope is the head of the universal church and successor of apostle Peter. 
    Syriac orthodox church claims that Patriarch of antioch is the head of the universal church and successor of apostle Peter. Malankara orthodox church also accepts this, but they also say that its catholicos or head who resides at Kottayam is the successor of Apostle St Thomas and catholicos is the head of christians in India.

Why don’t you and your boyfriend look into the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church?

We retain all of what the Malankara Orthodox Church prays in addition to being in full Communion with the Pope and the Latin Church, in addition of all of the Catholic Eastern Patriarchs and the 23 Eastern Catholic Churches.

IIRC, there was a theological commission between the Catholic Church and the Malankara Orthodox in 1999 which agreed to pursue discussion on interchurch marriage. Are you aware of any developments on the matter?
