Difference between Lectionaries

[object Selection] Do all lectionaries use the NAB text, or do some of them use a different translation of the Bible for the readings? I noticed that when I watch the Mass on EWTN, sometimes the words of the readings are slightly different from my St. Joseph missal, which uses the NAB text.Do any of you have any ideas on this?

Are you using an older version of the St. Joseph Missal? The lectionaries for use in the United States use a revised version of the NAB. Hopefully, these will soon be revised, as there are some serious flaws with the translation. For the English translation of the readings, the Vatican uses the New Jerusalem Bible, I believe. They are not tied to the USCCB translation. The Carribbean uses the RSV-CE for its Lectionary. I wish we could use that.

Now, your St. Joseph’s Missal may or may not have the readings for the Memorials of the saints. This could be one reason why what you have may be different than what EWTN uses.
