Difference between these Catholic Encyclopedias?

They are both the same encyclopedia: the Old Catholic Encyclopedia published in volumes between 1907 and 1914.

The main difference is in how both sites took the info and brought it to the web. NewAdvent employed the “type-it-in-while-looking-at-the-original” method. Catholic Answers employed the “electronically-scan-each-page-and-have-it-converted-to-text” method, followed by a collaborative proof-reading effort. Catholic Answers even makes available the page scans for viewing, which is a nice touch.

The only difference I have really observed is that New Advent tends to make minor editorial adjustments where Catholic Answers leaves it as it was in the original. For example, the Catholic Answers article on Joan of Arc is titled “Blessed Joan of Arc” whereas New Advent’s article is “Saint Joan of Arc” and includes and obvious addendum (highlighted in yellow) at the end of the article stating “St. Joan was canonized in 1920 by Pope Benedict XV” (which was, of course, after the initial publication of the Encyclopedia).

So, really, it’s the same material. Just a few minor differences. I think it’s nice to have them both, though I admit I use New Advent much more often out of habit.
