What are galahs and brolgas? I am a clueless American!:whacky:

**Hi lak611, 🙂 **
This site will explain about Galah’s and Brolga’s. I have pulled up the ‘Galah’ page; just scroll down to the bottom to find the link to the Brolga’s.

God bless.

Maybe a little eclectic, but Monastic Chirstmas music and seasonal music by Tennessee Ernie Ford and Johnny Cash. Also Vienna Boys’ Choir.

Hi lak611,
Thank you! The Galah’s are really cute! Perhaps you could send some to the States.
You are welcome. 🙂 I agree, Galah’s are cute. I am not sure if Australia has ever sent Galah’s to the States before, but they may in the future.
We see alot of them where I live. Driving past one of our parks, you often see dozens of them eating in the grass near the edge of the road!

God bless

(My apologies for going off topic.)

Emu up a gum tree? Emus are huge and flightless - it just doesn’t make sense for them to be up gum trees. Maybe a possum or something …

I have a disc I picked up a few years ago at Macys called A Classical Christmas. I LOVE it and play it constantly during the Christmas Season.
Guess I should see if a copy is still available because I’ve probably worn the grooves.

The Cambridge Singers’ “Christmas Night: Carols of the Nativity” is really beautiful. It’s filled with traditional but not commonly heard carols and a couple of new ones that fit in well with the rest, sung in the great English choral style. Plus, it has their recording of Pearsall’s “In Dulci Jubilo”, which may be my absolute favorite Christmas piece.

For a fun classic, you cannot beat John Denver and the Muppets "A Christmas Together. I owned my first copy of this on LP vinyl at the tender age of three. Now I’m going to have to buy this 25th anniversary version because they’ve replaced the tracks removed from the first CD printing. It’s so worth it, though. And it’s definitely different. How many other Christmas CDs have Animal and Beaker adding in backing vocals? 😃

I kind of like Alan Jackson’s “Let it be Christmas”. Thats about as far from the normal Christmas music that I like. I’m not a big fan of redoing old songs, or many new songs when it comes to Christmas.
Funny, i recall it as; o come, o come emmanuel
to thee shall come…

**Hi LilyM, 🙂 **

I know it seems odd, but the song is light-hearted and the fact that the emu is such a cumbersome creature, invokes the amusing mental imagery! Every time I imagine the emu perched atop the gum tree, I can’t help but smile!

My favorite ‘different’ Christmas tune is Santa Claus is Thumbin’ to Town by Relient K. It involves a hitch-hiking Santa. Nuff said.

It’s on the Happy Christmas Vol. 3 album. It’s a compilation cd by Christian rock/punk/alternative bands. They’re great, I have all three volumes.

I see you are sick of 93.9 fm as well. I agree with you, they keep playing the same music over over.

I still remeber when I was younger the 8th graders singing “Do You Hear What I Hear?”. It was so simple, but so lovely. Sometimes I think that artists make a song much more complicated than it needs to be.

I’ve been looking for Christmas music, simple or choir as well. I also wish the choir at my parish would make a CD, lol, they sing in Spanish and I love the songs.
Do You Hear What I Hear is a favourite of mine too!!! I remember being in a choir when i was in grade 1 and singing this song… still remains a favourite!!
But also tonnes of other songs

Yep! have to agree!
You do realize you dated yourself when you said “vinyl” 😛
And of course now I’m dating myself…Just kidding with you… have a Very Merry Christmas!

Look on amazon or on cdbaby for A Brutal Christmas. Common christmas carols done by Christian heavy metal groups. Some of the songs are actually really good. Royal Anguish does an awesome Mary, Did You Know and EversincEve does a great O Holy Night. It is an awesome CD, even if you aren’t into metal

I’ll have to check that out. I like heavy metal myself. I have actually seen a few local Christian metal bands.
