Dear brother and sisters in Christ,

Just wondering if anyone knows if there are different “levels” in Heaven?

I seem to remember reading somewhere that there are different levels in Heaven and our merits determine which one we are “put into”.

It makes sense that a saint who had suffered all his/her life for Christ would receive far greater glory that someone who had just scraped in!

God bless,
Noel.

It is an ancient Jewish tradition, I did research on this a few years ago. Try a google search. The concept was that there are seven levels of heaven, the seventh (7=perfection) being the actual residence of God. Actually it seems that the concept underwent a transformation, originally it was believed the different levels were where the earthly spheres resided, ie, the earth itself, the clouds, sky, sun, moon, each residing in a different level. The research was quite interesting.

There are several Bible references like My Fathers house (mansion) has many rooms, and when St Paul tells of someone being raised in spirit to the third level.

If a soul was in the one of the other levels others levels they would be perfectly happy, not wanting or needing to “ascend” to another level.

2 Corinthians 12:2 I know a man in Christ above fourteen years ago (whether in the body, I know not, or out of the body, I know not; God knoweth), such a one caught up to the third heaven. 3 And I know such a man (whether in the body, or out of the body, I know not: God knoweth), 4 That he was caught up into paradise, and heard secret words, which it is not granted to man to utter.
St Paul knew of the different levels.

Thanks FCEGM and Tom. This reminds me of quantum physics
where electrons in an atom could only occupy discrete energy levels…

But it sounds like it’s a lot more granular (continuous) than that!

God bless,
Noel.
