Rather, it would seem that the appropriate paradigm is this: let me look for the Church that Christ founded, and then conform my views to Christ’s.

Right on, PR. One Truth that seems to be missed by our separated Brethren is that the HS will not give an interpretation contrary to what He has already given.I look to the faith which gave us the Scriptures for guidance in the “mental rational issue of Scripture interpretation.”
Hay… we agree with that! One Truth that seems to be missed by our separated Brethren is that the HS will not give an interpretation contrary to what He has already given.
Sola Scriptura is the sola main cause of the reality that there are, indeed, a plethora of comitted, sincere, and faithful Christians who have contradictory doctrines.Hay… we agree with that!
We just call it Sola Scriptrua.![]()
Oh I very much agree! SS is not for the individual, it’s for the church! The problem with SS is not that Scripture is authoratative, of course it is. The problem is that people interprete it outside of the One Faith that produced it. when it is read without the lenses of this One Faith, then all kinds of bizarre interpretations can result, even in the most well meaning reader.
You have received very good and complete answers to your questions, however I have bolded one sentence that I think is most important in your post. It is all very well you asking on her behalf, but, if she is wanting to take this big step of leaving the Catholic church she needs to start taking responsibility for her decision and must learn to defend her new beliefs - it may well be that in explaining her reasoning for herself, she hears just where she is misunderstanding Catholicism and does not leave the Church at all.I am not sure exactly where to put this, so I put it here. My friend is considering converting to another religion outside of Catholicism, which she has been part of since she was born. I have tried to talk her out of it, but she has made up her mind, and as her friend I have decided to respect her decision. She was baptized as a baby. Is there anything official she has to do to leave the Church? She is going to continue going to a Catholic school since she loves the small classes and teachers. The problem is, we go to mass once a month as a school. What should she do about that.** I am asking because she is too afraid to ask for herself. **Also, I am curious, if she leaves the church, but comes back, will she have to be baptized again? Any answers would be appreciated, thank you.
No; one Baptism is ALL that is permitted and NEEDED for life.
yes PJM – one baptism-- after reviewing your john the baptism posts-- Hmmm
i don’t believe you you got it quite right
Consider these FACTS: as belied by PJM
[all provable from the bible itself; space permitting]
Because we KNOW their is Only One God: “Perfect and Triune” their logically and factually can Only be One right set of Faith beliefs. God who IS Perfect simply cannot hold differing; even contradictory views on the identical issues. SIMPLY IMPOSSIBLE.
Christ invented the term “church” to make clear

He was founding a New and a Necessary way to heaven
Pagans had Temples
Jews had Synagogues
Christ followers WOULD have “church’s”
Bias in the Bible: Does “Church” really mean “Church”?
Bias in the Bible: Why say “Church” instead of “Synagogue”?

Because the Bible was completely authored by the end of the 1st. Century;
yes this was correct-- the TORAH and the prophets and Saint pauls writings
the Bibles Canon set [the books selected and confirmed as Divinely Inspired] in the early 4th. Century
FALSE teaching by PJM
AND NO OTHER “CHURCH” would even exist for about 700 years
not true-- the church of Constantine started at 310 ad
at this time all Jewish traditions were stopped
; each and every reference to “church” in the bible refers ONLY to today’s CC.
ONLY the CC has
Jesus own protection Jn. 17: 15-19
The SEVEN Sacraments EACH instituted by Jesus Himself
Jesus TRULY Present in the Eucharist
The Sacrament of KNOWN forgiveness of sins [the Only method APPROVED by God]
The Entirety of Christ Faith Teachings
The ONLY Key’s and access to heaven
So anyone; and everyone for ANY reason who chooses to abandon the CC does factually put their SOULS at grave risk.
interesting false doctrine of PJM-- but as you have demonstrated –
"All scripture is open for your personal interpretation "PJM
St Paul warns of DIRE consequences for those who deny and abandon Christ only founded Church and set of Faith beliefs:
Heb. 6: 4-8 "For it is impossible for those who were once illuminated, have tasted also the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, Have moreover tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, And are fallen away: to be renewed again to penance, crucifying again to themselves the Son of God, and making him a mockery. For the earth that drinketh in the rain which cometh often upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is tilled, receiveth blessing from God.** But that which bringeth forth thorns and briers, is reprobate, and very near unto a curse, whose end is to be burnt**.
IT IS FAR MORE PRUDENT TO ACTUALLY MAKE THE EFFORT TO LEARN WHAT AND WHY WE BELIEVE AS WE DO BECAUSE IT IS; because IT IS;
yes PJM
there is a singular truth presented by YAWAH in the TORAH- and as Jesus said he was not adding to it or taking away from it"
the CC sure has added to it and changed it.
i suggest you go on line and review the “truth Project”
as Jesus said – to Cesar – he came to bear witness to the truth-

THE SINGULAR TRUTH! It is the singular and normal path to conditional salvation. Amen.
Heaven and Hell are REAL. Pray about it.
God bless,

Heb. 6: 2-8
[caps for emphasis not shouting]
TAKE NOTE THAT WHEN THESE WORDS WERE WRITTEN THE ONLY GOD; FAITH AND “CHURCH” WAS TODAYS CC.
are u sure??
saint paul as some people say wrote hebrews around 65 ad, and temple worship was in place at that time–
and saint paul was said to be warning the people that they could not go back to animal sacrifice, as pointed out in hebrews chapter 5- because Jesus was the completed and perfect sacrifice- and no longer bull and goats could do the job.
i don’t believe the sacramental system of today CC was in place at this time–
youtu.be/I1PFyiyWuVs
all though Baptism is mentioned in this section of verses- so obviously that was part of saint paul commentary
. and further more the heavenly gift was said to be the baptism of the Holy Spirit and all of it’s manifestations…as in Acts 19 – in that paul said have you received the Holy Spirit
so i also m interested in this unusual sacramental commentary you have posted, and where you copied it from.
thanks
i m guessing that the counsel of trent had something to do with it
