First off my prayers for all CAF intentions :crossrc:

So up until yesterday I had thought I was all set in terms of my return to law studies.

Now I’ve received some information about a second option in terms of finishing my studies. It would be quicker by a few months, without involving any more study time or anything, and would probably cost about the same. It’s also more prestigious - a university degree rather than a diploma - although I am equally able to progress on to practicing as a lawyer with either.

My difficulties lie in the fact that
  1. it would be WA-AY less relevant to the work I want to do after graduation and
  2. it involves long written assignments. Throughout my studies I have always had serious difficulties with 'em, having ADD. Although I am now, unlike in the past, actually being treated for said ADD and have access to good counselling should I need it.
The first course involves much shorter assigments and exams (which I don’t have problems with).

So pray for me over the next few days as I also pray and try to discern which path to take :byzsoc: - wouldn’t you know I’ve got less than a week to make up my mind

I too prayer for the CAF intentions although I don’t often respond with a post.

Anyway, I will keep you intention in my prayers. May God grant you wisdom in your decision. 🙂

I recommend to keep doing what your comfortable with. I have add too and I know that changing it up may be stressful and hard. Just my opinion.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

That’s just it - the more ADD-friendly course with shorter assignments is actually the one that would be new for me. The university is where I was previously studying before I took a break two years ago.

You can count on my prayers Lily! May the Holy Spirit guide you! Amen!

LilyM, my dear online Sydney friend!

Remember the road to the Lord is long, hard and steep.

Would cutting this course short really benefit you?
You have quite a few pro’s and con’s to weigh up.

Ill pray that you will make the right decision, im going back to studying next year myself gulp so ill be in the same boat with you!
God bless you with the right decision!

:hug3: thanks. God bless all of us poor students - it’s legalised mental torture really, isn’t it!

Mind you, getting it over and done with quicker would be a big psychological benefit, since I’ve been dragging it out for a long time. I’m talking one semester as opposed to two, though the longer one starts next month and the shorter in March. 🤷

oh yes it surely is!

Well the decision is yours! Just pray over it, it will hit you like a bolt of lightning.
When do they finish? Maybe if you start the longer one now, would it finish at the same time?
And i was thinking, the one that will benefits you in the long run is the longer course…
So if you want to pursue a particular law, wont you have to go and study it further anyway?
Again, my dear, im praying for you!
God bless

Prayers, from a lawyer in Ohio who knows how taxing law studies can be.

Actually not. November course ends October next year. March ends in June.

For another thing, the area I’m interested in (and I currently work in in a paralegal capacity) I’ve already studied specifically.

I was referring more to going back over some of the basics which I’d have to do with the longer course. Good and useful, I guess not strictly necessary. 🤷 Besides which, the short course you do prior to admission as a solicitor does that as well.

Specialising is more about choosing an area to practice in and gaining experience in that area than further formal study. In any event ithe extra study is something that can be pursued postgrad.

Oy vey! Time to take it to the Man Upstairs I think. Off to lunchtime Mass, catch y’all later.

I will keep you in my prayers, LilyM. I will also ask St. Expeditus to intercede for you. :gopray:

One is a law degree, the other is a law diploma. In essence I’d be gaining the same qualification twice if I did both, with the degree, as I said, being more prestigious and better on the ol’ resume.

Not to mention the extra time and expense involved in doing both, which I need like a hole in the head.

I think the best option may be to defer the longer course (which I can defer for up to a year), and take just some of its subjects rather than all the ones I’d planned if I feel the need.

Thanks for all the prayers, much appreciated.

You’re very welcome. Does this mean we’ll be seein less of you on CAF?
Oh if I can work full-time as I do now and still do loads of posting I think it’ll be the same with part time work and part time study 🙂
