Difficult World
Ever wonder why the world is just so difficult,
Particularly as it is something God has built?
Suffering, disasters, evil, cruelty, and sin,
Ever ask in dismay what can be the reason?
God created us to grow in deep and abiding love,
Loving those around us and Him in heaven above.
But as love is an act of our wills, it must be free,
Free to choose how we live and what we will be.
Thus with free will, there can be horrible evil,
As not everyone will choose to be moral and civil.
The easy path will often look to be our best chance,
But will hurt others through selfishness or ignorance.
Deep love requires sacrificing throughout our life,
Sometimes it develops better during great strife.
Natural disasters, handicaps, and sickness provide
A fine soil for love to develop and grow inside.
Opportunities to help others can bring out the best
Out of people needing a chance to love the neediest.
If the world was easy for everyone to live healthy and well,
Love would never deeply develop in our hearts to dwell.
The world itself is designed to ever change, both large and small,
To force us to adapt and grow, with a chance to care for all.
For stagnation will cause us to be apathetic and content,
Letting our love be mediocre at best, definitely not God’s intent.
The world is the garden to grow love in our souls deeply
With our free will loving God, ourselves, and others dearly.
Challenges provide great opportunities to grow in love
Getting us ready to unite with God in heaven above.
