fpj, I am willing to bet that her behavior happening around/during your change in beliefs was coincidental. From your post, she appears to have a mental illness or borderline personality. Depending on your age, this could be a mid-life crisis completely blown out of control, it could be the onset of depression, or the beginning of dementia.
RIght now, even though you love your wife and kids, it would be in the best interest of everyone involved to seek sound legal advice. This is especially true since you still have a minor in your care. If she is unable to care for your son, you need to make sure you have protection for him. Losing a long-time career, a house that is almost paid off, and custody of your son is not going to help her, your son or you. It is a lose-lose-lose situation.
