Does the Catholic Church have a position of dinasours in the creation stories of Genesis. Does anyone no of a Saint who may have addressed this topic of dinasours.
It wasn’t until 1841 that the concept of the dinosaur was formed. Although a likely fossil was found in the 1600’s, it wasn’t until the mid-1800 that dinosaurs and paleontology took off. So any discussion by a Saint would likely occur after that year, thus limiting your search for quotes to modern saints. Your most likely source of a quote would be from someone who wrote or spoke on evolution and creation.
While not limited to dinosaurs only, the Catechism says:
“Nothing exists that does not owe its existence to God the Creator” 338
“Each of the various creatures, willed in its own being, reflects in its own way a ray of God’s infinite wisdom and goodness” 339
Thanks bighodag for the past posts that really helped, thanks JimG for that insight. This dinasour issue came up in my R.C.I.A class, Iam grateful for the info, It will help me in my next class discussion. May God Bless you all.
I hope that RCIA is not getting sidetracked into the issue of creationism as a scientific theory. Science doesn’t accept it and the Church doesn’t need it. Genesis teaches good theology, not science.
