As a Diocesan Priest, you are called to serve the People of God. A diocesan priest is a compassionate and understanding leader of the community who willingly walks with the faithful by empowering them to respond to the message of the Gospel
Qualities of a Candidate for the Priesthood
-A love for the Catholic faith
-Generosity
-A desire to help other people
-A personal relationship with God
-A Capacity and desire to learn
-A respect for other people
-Openness to other cultures and ethnic groups
-Ability to work collaboratively
-Good social skills
-The ability to enjoy one’s own company and a variety of friendship
-The courage to take risks

-The ability to state an opinion that might differ from that of others
As a Diocesan Priest, you will be called to become a leader of a parish. A parish is a faith-filled group of people living in a definite geographic area within a particular diocese. It is a vital unit in the life of the community and the work of the Church. It is the center for liturgical worship, education, social life, and community celebrations.
As a priest, you will take on the roles of adminstrator, counselor, teacher, and team member. The most vital role in the life of your priesthood will be your spiritual leadership; calling forth and utilizing the gifts and talents of the community. Within the context of the parish, you will try to minister to the whole person-prompting the spiritual, physical, and emotional development of its members. In addition, you will be ministered to by the faithful.
