I haven’t been on here in about a month or so because of school and RICA. I’m looking for helping choosing a patron Saint for Confirmation, specifically, any Saints, male or female, who were disabled during their life.

I know of Saints Angela and Servulus (blind and afflicted with cerebral palsy, respectively), but not really any others. Their full names, a feminized version of their name if they are male (such as Adrianne for Saint Adrian) and a short summary of their life would be appreciated.

Anyone that knows Latin, what would the feminine form of Servulus be? Most masculine names can be feminized so I’m not really concerned if I choose a male Saint as my patron.

I myself have CP, so I’m looking for a patron who shared some of my struggles.

I’m looking to stylize my Confirmation name like this Ariana Katlyn (my given name, meaning most holy and pure, respectively) [insert Saint’s name here] and my last name.

Any help would be appreciated. I must give my Confirmation name to my priest by January.

Bl. Margaret of Castello is the patron saint of the disabled. Her story is just heart wrenching. I think she’d be a wonderful patron saint.
 
You can have a male saint’s name for Confirmation if you want - my daughter chose Maximilian Kolbe.

Good luck in your search. More “modern” diseases don’t seem to have saints - I think because in the past victims died too young. I’ve been looking for a saint for cystic fibrosis, with no luck. Until recently, CF sufferers died quite young. A nephew is dying from it - he already lost a sister & brother to the disease.

I have diabetes and just a few years ago found St. Pauline Visintainer. She was canonised by Pope JP II.

St. Alphonsus Liguori had eye problems from his early life, but in later life he got an additional disability: “An attack of rheumatism in June 1767 left him severely debilitated. A female version of his name would be Alphonsa, I think.
 
I have also read that St. Dymphna is a patron Saint of those with neurological conditions, which CP is. She is also the patron of those with depression, which I have battled all my life and of those with other mental health conditions like anxiety. I also have high-functioning Asperger’s which probably fits somewhere in there. I was moved by Bl. Margaret’s story, so far she is most like me, but I want to know as many Saints as I can before I make a decision.
