you are not a Catholic because you believe that the Catholic belief is wrong.
Actually, this is where you make an assumption that isn’t there… It’s not that I view the catholic belief as WRONG I just believe that it isn’t for me. I don’t feel like that is where God is leading me. Like I said, I don’t find you stupid or evil for what you believe. Nothing in my search has led me to that. I just think that God hasn’t said… This is where you belong.

Singin’, whether you feel you belong in the Church or not, we can always use a good witness on the “outside” – and we’re keepin’ the light on for ya.

I often felt that as a non-Catholic I was a stronger witness to the Catholic faith, more credible, than I would have been as a Catholic. There is much to be grateful for in our friends on the “outside.”

Cyber hug comin’ atcha.

Hello Singinbeauty,

God wants to lead everyone to the Truth. He doesn’t just lead people to any religion that works best for them. He never meant for so many divisions of faiths!

If you seek the Truth and pray to know it, God (in His time of course) will lead you to it. I pray that God will continue to watch over your faith journey!

God bless you.

That leads to the interesting question of “Just what is anti-Catholicism?” In my opinion, it goes beyond simple disagreements that are discussed rationally and charitable discourse that is carried on in a spirit of good will without name-calling and assigning motives. Beyond that, I’ve adapted this list I found elsewhere:

Anti-Catholic themes may be loosely categorized as follows:

!. Attacking Catholicism as being un-Christian or a cult (in the pejorative and not the sociological sense);
  1. Ridiculing, distorting, mischaracterizing or obstinately misinterpreting Catholic doctrine or practice;
  2. Ascribing to the Catholic Church a sinister role in an anti-Christian or anti-American conspiracy;
  3. Distorting or taking out of context illegal or scandalous behavior (especially sexual misconduct) by Catholic clergy or laity.
Often you hear the hollow claim, “Oh I love Catholics, I just don’t think the Catholic Church is Christian.” Or “I think that Catholics can be Christians, but if they are, they won’t hold any distinctive Catholic beliefs.” :rolleyes: This is a little more subtle, but still anti-Catholic.

Anti-Catholicism can also come in the form of “When did you stop beating your wife” type questions – where the person is pretending to ask a sincere question, while that question is loaded with anti-Catholic innuendo. Examples we see in these forums are “Why does the Catholic Church add traditions of men to the Bible?”, “Why do Catholics worship Mary (or the Pope)?”, or “Why do Catholics think they can work their way to heaven?”
Good points, but there as a protestant, there is a lot of mis-information out there among us. Just like some stuff I’ve even seen on these boards about what Protestants believe is incorrect or drastic generalizations. I don’t think anyone is necessarily anti-protestant, its just what they’ve probably been told for years. Its only been in recent months I’ve learned more about the Catholic Church.

While I’m not planning on converting to Catholic, I do like learning about other beliefs, and have found it more useful in learning about Catholics, or Jews or whoever, to get information written by Catholics or Jews, instead of what anohter evangelical says Catholics or Jews believe.
