I have a cheap plastic rosary ( not saying that that makes it any less of a rosary) and i don’t use it or anything because i have another one that i use. There is a Miraculous Medal ( not sure if that is spelled right) on it, and i was wondering if it would be ok if i took the medal off it ( it’s only attached by a little clip) and wore it on a chain around my neck. Because i wanted to buy one, but i don’t see why i would if i had one already. Thanks.

And another question that is unrelated:

Does that material of an object affect if it could be blessed or not?

Sounds like the Miraculous Medal isnt actually part of the Rosary (like the central piece of it). If it is just attached such that the Rosary will still be fine and in one piece if you remove it, then it’d be fine to remove and wear it.

Do keep the Rosary though - you never know when you may lose your other one.

It was the centerpiece, but like i said, it was cheaply made and it was not attached to the rosary so that it would hurt the rosary if i removed it. It was just clipped on in the middle.

I have quite a stash of rosaries, because i’m the only one in my family that actually prays it, and if my catholic relatives send us one i get it.😉

But my other question, can the material of an object make it unable to be blessed. Like if i had a something plastic or tin or something, could it be blessed?

The material doesn’t matter - priests even bless water to make it holy water, remember.

Since these things are yours, you can do as you like keeping in mind that you are being a good steward of what God has given you.

If you think it will help you more to wear the Miraculous Medal by itself, for example if you just want to wear Mary close to your heart, then go ahead and take it apart and make what you think will be best.

When you are finished making something, if you want to, you may then ask a Priest or Deacon to bless it for you.

And if you want something nicer, be sure and make a list of things you might like for Christmas or your birthday. Ask somebody like mom or dad to consider giving you something from your list for Christmas.
