Recently a friend lent me her book of the “Discalced Carmelite Proper Offices of Carmelite Saints and Blessed in the Liturgy of the Hours” (1980). This is a supplement for use with the Liturgy of the Hours. It has beautiful prayers for the feasts of most of the Carmelite saints.

Does anyone know if this book is still in print? If so where can I get a copy?

Thanks for any help.

Dear Mary,
As far as I know, the book is not in print and, even if it is, is almost impossible to find. Also, I’ve heard that there are plans to update it so that it includes the new saints and blesseds of the past few years. So, in a few years, a new edition might be coming.

I found this site that says what you have cited: Carmelite Proper of Saints.

I made up a paperback booklet of the Proper for my Lay Carmelite community. It’s the 1993 version, but it is better than nothing until the new one is published. If anyone would like a copy we are asking a donation of $2.00 plus S&H which covers the cost of the paper (acid free) and ink (phaser printer). Just PM or email me if you are interested.

Della,

I got a copy of the prayers today. They are beutifully done!

Thank you so much.

Mary
