Right now, I am trying to discern God’s will about something. There have been several times when I have been praying that I have felt the Holy Spirit telling me what his will is. I recently found out about the 5 C’s of Discerning God’s Will (deepinscripture.com/Discernment.pdf),
All of these seem to apply to my situation except for the first one (The Conformity Test). It says that any decision or action that is not in conformity with God’s law and His order for things should be rejected as something not from God. The thing that I believe is God’s will involves me wanting something that someone else has, which would seem to violate the tenth commandment. However:
-I believe that things would be better for everyone if I had it instead of this other person
-I believe that the reason why the other person has it is because I wasn’t ready for it yet.
All of the other four C’s apply to my situation. I believe that it would draw me closer to god (believing that it is his will already has)(the conversion test), it feels like it would be part of the larger plan that God has sent in motion for my life(the consistency test), I have recently have had lots of things happen that have encouraged me to keep believing that it is his will (The Confirmation Test), and I really truly believe that it is the right path in my heart (The Conviction Test).
So, would 4 out of 5 be a good indicator that what I believe is indeed God’s will?
