Discerning vocation/Prayers needed!

Hello All,

I am asking this for myself. I am discerning a vocation. Though I have my own prayers and other regular discerning activities that I started to do, I seek all you faithful’s help through prayers.

I am in a difficult situation, I have a huge educational loan to pay back (though it might seem peanuts if you all compare it with same kinda loan in US, but here in India , I am in deep trouble).

I cannot take that final decision just because of this loan and I do not know how long I will have to wait,I already feel old and wasting my life.

Also Pray for me so that I may choose the order that is meant for me.

Hope You will remember me at offertory during Holy Masses and in all the ways you can.

Well, prayer seems the only recourse for me now!

I have stood in your shoes - 11 years ago I was discerning a vocation and had a large outstanding loan with a massive early repayment penalty. I had to put my vocation aside for years and only recently have been able to revisit it.

However long it might take you to repay that loan, do not be downhearted. God will still be there waiting for you after it’s paid off.

Use all your talents and skills to repay the loan. Praise God for them, work hard and honourably and in the meantime, don’t forget that you can still serve God in the Church in many different voluntary ways which will bring you great satisfaction - like taking Communion to the sick, assisting in catechising young people, etc.

I don’t know how old you are, but I can tell you that when I visited one of the English speaking Seminaries in Rome at Easter, I met first year students for the priesthood who were in their 60s. From what you’ve written I’m pretty sure you have a long way to go before you reach that age. Who knows - perhaps we’ll both meet there?

Joe sometimes these obstacles are God’s way of saying not yet. I pray that while you are waiting to enter the priesthood that you allow God to work thru you wherever he needs you now. In Jesus name we pray. Amen :signofcross:

It is absolutely, there is nothing comes to pass without His knowledge. I know he is making me wait, may be for I can become close to him through prayers. But I pray because you remeber the parable of the old lady asking the judge everyday to get justice? I do the same , God help me be pateint . Thank you for the prayers, it will help me to continue with the desire to serve him in a religious order.

It took a lot of repitition for me to get those prayers memorized! Listening to the chants helped a lot 👍

O Father in Heaven, Who through St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus of the Holy Face, dost desire to remind the world of the Merciful Love that fills Thy Heart, and the childlike trust we should have in Thee, humbly we thank Thee for having crowned with so great glory Thine ever faithful child, and for giving her wondrous power to bring unto Thee, day by day, innumerable souls who will praise Thee eternally.

St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus of the Holy Face, remember thy promise to do good upon earth, shower down thy roses on those who invoke thee and obtain for us from God the graces we hope for from His infinite goodness. Please help Joe find a path to his vocation.

Dear joeantony,

Your prayer here for me today has already been answered. I was at Mass while you posted the prayer. I then went to a restaurant. When I was finished eating, the waitress told me that an anonymous couple had already paid for my meal. Quite a big blessing today with all that has been going on in my life recently.

It is not appropriate or there is no reason for this stranger to ask you about what is goin on recently in your life that bothers you. But i promise I would pray for you specially.

Lord Jesus,
up until now you have been quietly
preparing Joe to be your disciple.
Now the time of preparation is ending.
He seems to hear you say to him, as once to Peter;
“Will you also go away?”

You were saddened then by friends who failed you.
But Peter did not fail.
“Lord,” he said, “to whom shall we go?
You have the words of eternal life.”

I stand with Peter.
Through prayer and counsel,
show Joe, Lord,
where it is in your vineyard
that you want him to serve.
Then give him strength to be faithful.

Mary, Mother and Model,
help Joe to respond in generous love
to the call of your Divine Son.

Hi Poor_Clare,

Thank you for your prayers. I am praying everyday to take that Loan burden away from shoulder to be free to take my decision. And I thought God was helping me when I was called for an interview for a new job , would potentially pay me a lot more than what I earn now. But It was not His will. I didn’t clear the interview. Now I see that he has another plan for me, I am trusting more and more in his plan.
