All pro-lifers here should have a pro-life bumper sticker…

I don’t see many of them on the road…😦

This is a way to protest abortion without even doing anything…

It is a good idea, I’m surprised most parishes don’t encourage it.
At the same time, not all places are safe and thus cars can be subject to vandalism for signs like that. It really is amazing to see the lack of such important stickers.
 
Stickers are not important. Beliefs and actions are. Understanding is, as well. Maybe I am a stick in the mud, but I don’t want to read your religious, political, or other opinions in sticker form. For all anyone knows, you could have bought the car used and been too lazy to remove the previous owner’s lazy opinions…

The best way I have found to discourage abortion is to remain steadfast and consistent in your conviction that all life is intrinsically valuable and not be wasted or destroyed by vain personal choice. I have gotten into many an argument over this issue, but it helps to that anyone you talk to who might have another view on this issue know how seriously you take it. I do not think bumper stickers convey that sense of seriousness, either.
 
I don’t think bumper stickers are that useless, because they can serve as a reminder of the sanctity of human life to those in our current times that too often forget. But, I would agree that this method is not in any way a primary method to educating others on the culture of life.

i’m also very surprised parishes don’t encourage it and that most priests don’t speak out on abortion. I think I’ve heard ONE homily wherein abortion was mentioned… it wasn’t even the theme of the homily … but i’ve heard only that ONE in the last couple yrs…

just because you don’t doesn’t mean everyone else doesn’t… Some woman may be driving behind you on her way to the abortion “clinic”… & Who knows: she just might start thinking… and may end up changing her mind… .If no one ever stood against abortion, no one would ever think about the wrong-ness of it… and nowadays, that’s what has happened to an extent anyway… even pro-lifers don’t speak on the issue as often as they should (priests…:mad::()…

Hrm… if every Catholic had a Pro-life bumper sticker… wonder how many would be next to the Obama/Biden bumper sticker.

a lot of bumper stickers are more or less useless… political ones, etc… (because i doubt anyone changes his mind seeing a political one)…

but nobody LIKES abortion… No one goes out of his/her way to encourage a woman to get pregnant so she can have an abortion… (although, i am sure there are probably some rare exceptions to that “rule” … the devil rules this world so nothing surprises me anymore…)…

In any case, since no one likes abortion… a bumper sticker that encourages LIFE could possibly be effective… in at least getting people to think about the issue…

I just don’t get that one… “Catholics” voting for someone like him…

I think we should always remember to put " around the word Catholic when we are speaking of someone who doesn’t practice the Catholic faith… but was just baptized Catholic or w hatever… & no longer really believes…

I agree, as pro-life advocates, we are cast as a hateful, judgmental and deranged minority in the media and society at large because we have not been vocal enough or visible in the past. Thank God that is changing!

For the most part, we are not courageous leaders. We wait for someone else to speak out or to take a stand.

Look at what Pope Benedict XVI said about Lent:

“What does ‘entering Lent’ mean? It means we enter into a season of special commitment in the spiritual battle to oppose the evil present in the world, in each one of us, and around us.** It means looking evil in the face and being ready to fight its effects** and especially its causes, even its primary cause which is Satan. **It means not off-loading the problem of evil to others, on to society, or on to God but rather recognizing one’s own responsibility and assuming it with awareness.” **

Most will ignore, but it may encourage some, it may start a discussion. Put a rosary on your mirror so they know your Catholic. I don’t think Jesus was afraid of vandalism, He died for us!

what’s really pathetic (unfathomable) is that pro-lifers voted for the man… they are pro-life (sort of ) but apparently think that making $ or some other thing is more important than LIFE itself…

abortion: its a life or death issue…

why some don’t get that is beyond me… Well, i guess it isn’t so far beyond me… I was young (and uncatechized once)… have to remember where i came from… Ignorance…

Beautiful Post… very inspiring!

I do have a rosary on my rear-v mirror… and everywhere else in my life, much to the annoyance of most of the people who know me… even Catholics, probably (although the ones who know me best seem to be most annoyed by my outspoken-ness on various issues that they don’t want to deal with… like things Jesus tells us to do that make us uncomfortable… and not so much the rosary, per se… but whatever…).

anyway… thanks for that beautiful quote from our wonderful pope. Isn’t he the best??? 🙂
 
What about pro-life licence plates? I am not a big fan of bumper stickers on my car, but licence plates that are geared to a cause that I care about get a thumbs-up.

Speaking of abortion, I was very saddened to read the following story.

Things like this cause me to honestly question the position the RCC. Do you honestly believe that this 9 year old that was raped by her stepfather will remain in the RCC after the excommunication of her mother? Many prayers go to this family during this very traumatic time for them. I hope that another Christian Church will be able to reach out to them in their time of need for healing.

Why could they have not waited a few more weeks and delivered them preterm via C-sec?

Save the life of the mother and not murder the babys?

if not, that does not diminish or in any way villify the RCC… The RCC is the Church Christ established, the only one that’s been around since He ascended into Heaven…

A lot of people leave the Church… The devil even tried to tempt me away from Her… but i know too much…

peole leavingthe Church says something about those people… and virtually nothing about the Church…

Not that the Church is perfect… but neither is any other ‘church’ where people are members…

People need to separate sin from sinner, sinner from Church…

It depends on where you live. In Portland Oregon where I am, it is a pretty liberal area (or actually the liberals are just more ‘active’), and if you have a Republican bumper sticker or something similar, a liberal on a bicycle (we have a lot of those here) can go by and kick, dent, etc your car. It’s not uncommon also for liberals to pull out signs in yards and throw them.

As for parishes/priests not speaking out against abortion and other sins, I totally hear you. It is pathetic and a waste of people’s time when they are not getting fed by their parish. It reminds me of a sad but funny cartoon:
