discouraged

I’m very discouraged and am thinking about just giving up on Catholicism. I’m not sure anyone is listening to all the rosaries and prayers. Catholics are losing on all fronts. Catholics in the US support the abortionist president by a large majority. The world thinks the Pope is a former Nazi. The FOCA law is a fait accompli and will force Catholic medical professionals to kill babies. People flock to anti-Catholic movies. Catholic Universities bestow honors on people diametrically opposed to the values they are supposed to teach.

I’m also wondering why I’ve been so called believing in all the things I have for no other reason than my Mom and priests told me to. All the miracles in history happen in little Italian towns to priests and nuns. How about a miracle in-------Sumatra or Bangkok or Denver? I’ve tried reading Aquinas, Chesterton to understand the proof of God through reason or whatever. Might as well be trying to read Chinese.
So how do I know that wehn I die I’m not just worm food like every other dead creature? Who has seen heaven, hell, purgatory know someone who has? Anyone seen any proof, evidence?

Hanging by a thread, mostly motivated by fear. Help?

bro, God is real, I understand completely how you feel, but please trust the Church and those giving advice here, God IS real and loves us! AND He understands our confusion. Seek Him, seek the Truth 9which is Him) and YOU WILL FIND IT! I promise you!!!

I’m guessing by your CAF name, “Coach”, that you are really indeed a coach.

If thats so, then I guess your teaching young people how to play a sport, the rules of the sport and so on. I’m guessing these young people are trusting that you are telling them the truth of that sport and they are listening to what you have to say. You are there role model for the sport. And I’m pretty sure they are not questioning your authority in matters involving this sport.

So, if thats true, then why do you, and many others, not trust that the Church is teaching us the right thing on matters of faith? Why is it, that we are all so trusting of our parents, elders, teachers, and coaches throughout our lives for learning things, but when it comes to matters of faith, we continually question our Church?

Stop thinking so long and hard about things you cannot control. Stop the questioning for awhile and just relax in the Lords arms. He will give you the peace to understand. This world is a noisy place, full of distractions and full of know-it alls and blow hards that can lead us astray if we let them. So just shut out the noise and relax, meditate and feel God’s love. It will be truly liberating…

I was discouraged before reading this thread. One problem is that
we canot correctly judge what we
see going on in the world.

You may think we are losing the war, but the fact is we have already won the war. This is a rescue mission. Christ won the war, now God is being patient because he wants everyone to be saved. But the final judgment WILL
come, and Christ will return.

God has not brought the final judgment, which means there are
more to be saved.

Sounds like the devil has hit you with doubt. Well just like a phisical
wound it will hurt for a while, and
you will need time to recover.

Pray for faith, and try to read and meditate on scripture a little each day.

You will feel better soon, and you will be smarter this time to.
