I have been in a bad way for a while, tempted by sins of gluttony, lust, isolation, fear, and betrayal, but yesterday I received complete forgiveness of my sins. I found that I wanted to do a 180 with my life, giving up a good many things I had previously done, in order to live my life more fully in the lord. I also found myself by sheer will able to discern god’s will perfectly (even if I sometimes made minor mistakes in doing what he was asking), and I was gifted with the ability to understand people, to tell when they were lying, to identify traps of the devil and the sins of my family, and so on. The experience was strange, humbling, and also peaceful. I found that I took to praying the saint Michael prayer a ton, I caused the evil one to retreat, I felt and acted upon a desire to place a hand on my mom’s head and pray the prayer of saint Michael for her, after asking her permission, as I knew without her permission, the prayer would be ineffective. I nearly convinced her to join the Catholic faith, which my father has been pursuing for years, and I would have convinced her had I better let the holy spirit guide me. I came into the house, prayed a prayer of saint Michael all around, but I felt great evil in the house. I know I had been the cause of much of it, but my family has taken to sins of gluttony, overwork, abuse, and worldliness. My father was the only one who refused to allow me to pray for him, a notion that was of satan. He is lost. How do I help him? Why do I know these things? I discovered in the car that I was able to understand my mother’s life, her hurts, her sins. I understood what was holding her back. I understood her sins. I helped her almost overcome them. What is this gift? How do I understand these things?

Talk to a priest.

No one here is capable of determining the source of these “gifts” and unless you are under spiritual guidance, it is likely that you are able to either.

“Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.” Overall you seem rather pleased in your own perfection and supposed abilities. Instead of laying hands and judging based on your moral superiority you should very carefully consider where these “gifts “ come from. I’ve known people with severe OCD and other mental illnesses that claim everything you’ve said. You should consult a priest in conjunction with a psychologist.

Thank you for your advice! I am certainly willing; however, I am not in a
state of grace as of last night, so I am unable to do so in the same way as
I would have last night. If you think that it won’t make a difference
though, I can certainly comply.

The other posters have weighed in with good observations. My only question is in your post, the two sentences I cite here seem to be contradictory. I’m confused.

How to help, like others said, see a priest, utilize the gift of the sacrament of reconciliation, and pray for yourself and you family unceasingly. Don’t set limits, God acts in His time, not yours. Your job is to seek your own salvation and to pray for others to do the same for themselves.

Thank you for the humiliations and criticism I received. God bless 🙂

I am sorry if i offended you in any way. I did not mean to. I wanted to give a heads up on referring spiritual or medical advice to the appropriate professionals, as we are called to, on CAF.

🙏🕊️💐

Brother,

Be at peace and do not fear. God allowed it to happen to enable me to cultivate humility. Best to follow the authority than rebel. We must love our superior.
By this, we know who are the children of God and the children of Satan, the humble and the proud.

No need to be sorry. You were doing your job. I appreciate the kindness and empathy you shown me on a personal level as person-to-person and I am a stranger. Thank you for the humility you have shown.
