😉 Yes, and from a certain perspective I still agree with it (terms not to be rehashed here). But when it comes to children and specifically my daughter and our family situation, things get a bit more clouded for me. With everyone’s prayers, I can only hope the best decisions are made for her while she’s growing up.
 
It is fine to let your daughter go. Its a once off event, which will bring her closer in her friendships and the things that God has made. We As eastern Catholics do not believe canons are absolute. Speak to your priest, I am 100% sure he will be fine with your daughter going. We need to look at the spirit of the canons, not just the words.

We traveled all around the world as a family and I remember, where we would attend mass, in whatever city we were in, was already pre-panned into the itinerary. I use to hate it growing up. I would complain and say " but we are on vacation!!!" My parents would gently explain to me the importance, but I didn’t care lol but as an adult I look back on that and I think wow! My parents were amazing, I’m so so proud of them and what they did for us as a family and honoring God. They truly lead by example and it was worth it because it resonates deep with me today.

That’s awesome that your parents took you to mass on vacation! My parents didn’t and I think back and wonder “what were they thinking”?🤷

Yes, there is some controversy about the organization as a whole; however, I would like to leave that discussion for another day. The camping trip is for the entire council not just her troop. I did not think to ask if their would be a priest on hand for Sunday, so I will inquire into that.

As for Sunday afternoon: Yes, there are many Latin Rite churches in town with afternoon masses. However, I would most likely not be able to take her as she would be with her mother who has sadly become indifferent to the faith since she left.

Also, I believe most of the responses have been from the western viewpoint of mass obligation. I intend no offense, but I deliberately posted to the Eastern Catholicism forum for an eastern point of view. Those of western spirituality are more than welcome to share their thoughts, but I would really appreciate some (name removed by moderator)ut from those of the eastern persuasion.
