Is it set in stone that Saturdays are for confession? Do you know of any parishes that have moved confession to Sundays, like in between masses or after mass.
I have heard that reception of communion is okay if you confess your mortal sins either before or at the most opportune time after.
Since Holy Days of obligation have been moved to the nearest Sunday in some places, has anyone ever thought of moving Confession to Sundays or introducing Sunday confessions? People who go to church are there already, why not encourage them to stay a few minutes later and confess?
Then again…this could be a bad idea. Afterall, I’m not a priest.
