I was born and raised Catholic. My church prided themselves as being one of the most conservative in the nation, conseqently I became disenchanted (as most 20 something’s do) My husband encountered this as well (we actualy got married in an Episcopal church) After a tragic loss my DH has now not only denounced the church, but God as well. This breaks my heart (I don’t think he truely feels this way, but he is trying to covince himself) I have tried everything to get him to come back to God. We now have 3 beautiful children and I want them to know the Lord. We are new to the area and I have found a charismatic interdenominational “megachurch”. The community resources it has are unreal! While the Catholic Churches here only offer select programs(mainly CCD)and limited Mass times. I still feel a strong pull to the Catholic faith but I have been thinking of joining this other church just to get my family heading in the right direction, and to at least open my husbands ears again. Any thoughts on this…Is something better than nothing?

Wow,

Sorry to hear about this. My heart really goes out to you at this time.

I am not going to encourage you to leave the Catholic church, but it sounds like you are not going at this time any way.

Yes the megachurch probably has some neat programs and things to do. this may give you an environment to begin to heal.
I would try both churches and let them know what’s happening and really take a look at what they have. Like I said I don’t encourage a person to leave a particular church denomination.

I would really suggest you try both and talk to both.

My biggest encouragement i have is to pray… pray … pray…

Life has delt you and you Husband a pretty hard blow at this time.

My suggestion from a male point of veiw is becarefully and not try to push to hard. respect him for now and pray.

How much of a fuss will he give you, if you try going to a church and taking the Kids?

PM me if you wish.

best wishes,👍

I’m here if you need anything

I will pray for the Lord to enlighten your husband. If you do go to an interdenominational church, please remember that they do not have the Eucharist, although they may have commeraderie. The Eucharist is the greatest gift that Christ left to us, and many Christians reject it. Please pray over your relationship to the Eucharist and how you want your own children to know Jesus in the Eucharist.

By the way, just to clarify, the Catholic Church is NOT a denomination. It is the Church. 🙂

I am so sorry!

Though I am ‘protestant’ (though I protest nothing I guess I have to accept this title) I will not presume to tell you where God wants ya. That is between you and Him. If you feel the pull to the catholic church then by all means, that is where you should be. Your husband just needs some time. God is big enough to deal with our anger with Him. He knows about hurt and knows the human need to express this emotion. Your husband’s heart, most likely, has not hardened to God as you state - he just needs some time to sort out the pain. Hopefully, with the Holy Spirit there to guide him, he will not take long to realize that things will go just a bit easier if he gives it to God. That is a very HARD lesson to learn. We will all pray that he will turn to God sooner rather than later.

Attend where God pulls you and don’t fret, this is something that is between your husband and God and He has it in His very capable hands. God does not give up on His children though we most certainly try to give up on Him from time to time. 😊

Thank you for your prayers and guidance. I know I just need to sit in silence and reflect on what God is telling me (easier said than done) I also know that this is not only an internal battle for my husband but for me as well. Thanks again, it’s always nice to hear a christian voice.

I had been planning on taking the kids by myself to mass this Wensday, hopefully thinking that my DH would volenteer to help me out as he usually does (he is a terrific father! 2 very small ones and an older energetic one can be a handful! Before I could tell him my plans tonight at dinner he said he wanted to go to Mass on Sunday. I asked him what church, he said if he was going to come back it would only be to the Catholic Church. I always thought God spoke in complicated riddles, but this time His voice was heard loud and clear!!

Another note: I have found a very nice Catholic Church that has several groups, including a mother/child playgroup, it will be nice to be around other young Catholic families!

Hi

I am an Ahmadi - a peaceful faith in Islam; I would suggest you alongwith praying, have a firm resolve to follow truth wherever it would take you, that is going to have a good affect on your husband.

Thanks

Good to hear that your husband might be coming around. One word of caution though. Try to make sure you are doing things because that is where you (and your children) belong. I have found, in my own life, that if I do something like go to Confession in the hopes that my husband will follow suit, he usually doesn’t. But, the times when I have gone to Confession because my little rear end belonged there, my husband has followed my lead. I have run into him twice at Confession when we were both out running separate errands.

I am thrilled for you. Sounds like you married a Godly man who just needs a few layers of dust removed! You’re in my prayers!
