However, I detect that you don’t exactly like Adoremus, either.
The fact of the matter is that EWTN is provided an excellent means of evangelization for the Church. The programming EWTN is doctrinally and theologically sound. I, for one, enjoy watching the Papal Masses and the Papal Audiences (when I can).
To merely dismiss someone as being a “marketing troll”, I believe, misses the point. EWTN makes it possible for the Good News of the Gospel to reach homes. The OP attributes her return to the Church to EWTN. I’m sure that the same holds true for many, many people.
Unfortunately, there are those who are so infected with the alleged Spirit of Vatican II that they don’t realize that EWTN is actually embodying what those documents actually said. The fact that this network is faithful to the Magisterium irks many progressives who would rather have free-form liturgies and nebulous doctrine.
There are many in certain circles, for example, who do not like the fact that Joseph Ratzinger was the one who emerged as Pope some three years ago. Only EWTN offered wall-to-wall coverage of the event and has really gone out to present factual information about our Holy Father when the secular media was panning him.
In short, the OP deserves credit for standing up for something she believes in even when it may not be the popular thing in her parish.
