The case against polytheism is mainly that its track record is not good at all. Wherever it existed in the ancient world, Egypt, Greece, Rome, etc. it eventually gave in to monotheism as more intellectually respectable and emotionally appealing. That it holds on even in the modern world is not a reflection on its likelihood to survive much longer. Its present survival is largely among the poorest, most primitive, and ignorant of nations.

Now of course, this is what the atheists might say about those who believe in the Bible 🤷

But there is no doubt in my mind that atheism will last as long as monotheism, and remain forever a distinct minority. Even when polytheim is finally finished, its adherents will move toward monotheism or atheism, and I suspect many more to the former than to the latter.
