Not sure if anyone can relate to this:
I became a Catholic 6 years ago (from Protestantism), after a fairly long study into the writings of the Fathers (and watching/listening to Catholic apologists and other converts). Of course, I immediately saw that the early Christians were all Catholic in their beliefs and in how they worshiped. I saw the continuity of the deposit of faith that I could not see within Protestantism.
My problem is that my family, who have all become quite “progressive” in their beliefs, seem to dismiss the Fathers and early Christians as largely irrelevant to a modern, “intelligent” faith.
Does anyone know how I might reach someone like this, who is not swayed by the argument that the early Christians were Catholic, and sees that God is “progressive” in the way he moves among the faithful?
