I see they not only made her bi, but also multicultural and into witchcraft. Talk about killing a whole buncha birds with one stone.

I’m not so certain of that.
There is more money to be had in staying out of an issue and being able to appeal to people on either side of that issue than there is picking a side and losing the other half.

I think they will respond to economic pressure when viewership drops.
Maybe even get rid of the people that convinced them this was a good idea.

But then again…cnn hasn’t. So what do I know.

You really would not like the show “Stephem Universe.” The series is over now, but it had representation for gender fluidity, sam sex relationships, and various family structures. There have been a lot of cartoons over the past decade that have had this (Voltron and Adventure Tiime immediately come to mind) that people appear to have not noticed.

They ride the bandwagon of society. When something falls out of acceptance it will probably head back to the Disney Vault.

Indoctrinate the young, their brains are like sponges soaking it all up, they won’t see it as anything but normal as they grow up. Homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexual, transgender, genderless, pansexual, non binary etc, choose whatever you want to be when you grow up. Even many adults now are accepting it, the only ones who won’t accept it are us bigoted hateful Christians.

One of the definitions of “normal” is something that is frequently encountered. If it is something that is frequently observed, then it falls within the realm of “normal.”

Superhero comics always had a heavily gay subtext. Batman and Wonder Woman are two examples that spring to mind immediately. They just make it more obvious now. Although it’s kind of hard to miss it in many of the older pre-code comics.

Also when it becomes less trendy. LGBTQ+ is a hot topic now, but it’s likely to always be a small percentage of the population. Once it ceases to be a hot topic, it won’t be played up as much.

Oh please, are you telling me that an unmarried older man and a teenaged boy cannot wear colorful costumes and frolic at all hours of the night without something untoward happening?

Disney has been degenerate for a long time. This is not news.

I have always liked potential for different interpretations of Batman. The character has offered something for children and adults from the 1960’s tv series to the Arkham games.

Dang, going on a strafing run with the Batplane.

I would posit that part of the problem is the unproven assumption that sexual identity makes a person a “type”.
When all we have to go on for a person’s sexual identity is their own self-report.

I’ve heard it alleged that American media is overly obsessed with romances compared to other countries.

I don’t mind Adventure Time - Disney irks me because they leap into this stuff once they know it is becoming ‘safe’.
Whenever Disney or any of their subsidiaries do stuff like this it’s always met with huge headlines that go viral too. I think they really rely on the controversy as well as the celebrations from progressive-minded websites. With things like Adventure Time you wouldn’t know it unless you watched a lot of it.

Here’s the thing, though. Disney might find that the same crowd who’s back-patting and hugging them now for their light and fluffy bi character will be the same mob that comes after them with the pitchfork and torches if Disney doesn’t go “far enough”.

Look what happened to JK Rowling and be ware…

That really isn’t what happened with JK Rowling, though. She independently voiced her views on trans people and was criticised for it, nobody demanded anything of her beforehand.

Even the progressive stuff she added in the stories before is definitely stuff she personally believes, I don’t think she did it under any pressure. She’s openly associated with the Labour Party (on the right of the party) and her opposition to trans issues is definitely approached from a somewhat “feminist” perspective.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Batman and Robin are someday portrayed as having a sexual relationship.
