I dont know if anybody agrees with this but I think and this is my opinion that disney tends to take advantage of their children. What I mean by this is the directors of these shows want money, and are willing to take advantage of these kids overload them with work. Also I think this is why if anybody has noticed most of the actors stay for their paticular show then leave. Also some of these shows that have aired like Wizards of Waverly place is sort of encouraging magic when magic is of the devil. Also they do these good vs evil things with magic but magic is evil. So its like evil vs evil just one may seem good.

I think the magic angle is a stretch. Magic has always been in literature.

In regards to Disney taking advantage of their young actors… the truth is that the kid’s parents aren’t doing them any favors either.

Also, most of the child actors leave Disney because they want to shred their wholesome image so they can be casted for more “adult” and darker scripts and stories.

While I totally believe that Disney is no longer the business that Walt and Roy Disney built, the producers are not the only greedy people there… the parents are equally guilty of exploiting their children.

God Bless

The major problem I have with Disney TV shows for pre-teens and teens is the poor behavior portrayed by the characters (disrespectful, rude, shallow, always quick with a smart-alecky comeback, etc.).

The answer here is ridiculously simple – cancel your cable or satellite subscription. Problem solved. 👍

We cancelled years ago, and now we deliberately choose which shows we watch on Netflix. Your kids can’t just surf through channels and accidentally find something inappropriate that way.

AND I actually TALK with my son about everything we read and watch and sometimes even the poor choices of the actors – he needs to develop the ability to think critically and discern for himself.

Im 21, single and dont have kids also I dont watch alot of tv. You might think well how can he say those thngs then and the answer is Im going off of what iv seen in the past. Also some of the down spiraling talent they have produced like miley cirus. When miley was younger she was actually pretty good but then she somehow changed and is the person she is today.

I doubt they’re significantly more exploitive than the rest of the industry.

Agreed. 👍 I can think of much more egregious “marketing to children” stuff than Disney. What about all those cartoons created simply to sell a line of toys or merchandise? What about “children’s” sitcoms and movies that encourage rude, disrespectful or rebellious behaviour? Disney has problems, but they are simply reflections of a general problem with the entire entertainment industry.

I think the only difference between Disney and the rest of the entertainment industry is that somehow Disney has managed to somewhat keep its wholesome reputation - - leading parents to think, 'Oh it’s Disney, it can’t be too bad"…

The child labor laws in Hollywood are VERY strict, even for Disney. These young actors are there because they want to be there; they can leave at any time and hundreds of others would be eager to replace them. Good vs. Evil has been a universal theme in all cultures since the cavemen sat around campfires and told stories.

My children have aged out of the Disney TV show target audience (thank God) but they did enjoy the Disney shows over the years. The shows are not that bad. Through our charitable work, my kids and I have had the opportunity to meet a few of the young Disney talent. They were very nice and did not seem overworked. They seemed to enjoy giving back and sharing their gifts.

Our latest Disney thing to do is Disney Cruises. We love the family focused approach to vacations.

Of course the folks making the programs want to make money - that’s generally why entertainment is produced.

YES! We’ve been on different cruise lines for vacations, but always come back to Disney! Their customer service is by far the best, and although I see many older couples and single cruisers also having a great time, Disney is “family-first” all the way!

I’m inclined to believe there is some direction to this transformation. That is, draw the young kids into the wholesome image and then smash that. Get them to idolize someone who then leads them into evil. Whether it is just for profit or for a real love of evil doesn’t matter.

I agree 100%. I believe that direction is coming from their agents. I don’t think Disney is doing that, but I would be willing wager it’s coming from mainly from their agents and even some (if not many) producers.

Once the kids crossover, they almost never do another Disney movie. So I doubt it’s Disney encouraging them to take on darker and/or scandalous roles.

My mother was Baptist (with a hint of fundamentalism), she was never a fan of Disney. We were only allowed to watch certain films and we didnt have cable so no TV shows. I feel some of their movies have been a bit sketchy, like that one the article in the OP talks about.

I am not really sure how I feel about it, as a parent. But we are still in the world of Paw Patrol and Curious George…

Disney is very evil. They promote the New World Order agenda. There is Illuminati/occult symbolism in several of their films. They also seek to indoctrinate children into things go against God. They are greedy and materialist.

Greedy, absolutely. Can you provide examples of your other contentions?

Okay I posted yesterday on my phone, now I’m here with a full keyboard.

My mom, God rest her soul, was always wary of Disney. She was not a fan of their support of celebrating the homosexual lifestyle, which when I was a child was “bold” and not the “norm” as it is now (you’d be hard pressed to find a large public business who isn’t “tolerant” of the open celebration of the sin). She felt they did bring demons and occult representations and make them likable to children. The link in the OP mentioned fantaisia, she was really up in arms about that one if I recall. Now, being homeschooled and such, I just didn’t get to see many Disney movies. No biggie. There were other things to watch and do. We did have like 101 dalmatians, etc.

If she were alive, I’d probably ask her about it. But she isn’t, so I don’t know the details. It was a big deal almongst homeschool evangelicals during my childhood, she and all her friends tried “boycott Disney” (personally, I don’t think they noticed our lack of financial contribution). I am not such a big anti-Disney person as my mom was, but I do understand what they are talking about in the link from the OP, the glorification of “evil” characters, the blurring of the lines between good and evil and morality. I don’t think that is appropriate for younger children. I believe she had issue with all of the magic as well.I still find their celebration of the open expression of sinful relationships inappropriate, but as I stated before, it’s hard to find entertainment options from companies who do not at least tolerate it.

I dread the day when my kids outgrow the innocence of shows that focus on things like gardening, sledding, counting…

Disney promotes the New World Order agenda by promoting things that go against God. This is especially true with the gay propaganda they use. This article shows that they have a liberal New World Order agenda:mediamatters.org/blog/2014/08/13/tampa-tribune-columnist-disney-is-indoctrinatin/200411 Disney also features Illuminati/occult symbolism in their film such as Frozen:illuminatiwatcher.com/disneys-frozen-conspiracy-theories/

The “Media Matters” article you linked to characterizes the person making those claims, Douglas Mackinnon, in these words: " . . . the latest in the columnist’s history of rabid right-wing rhetoric." Not exactly a ringing endorsement from your own source.

Since Disney depends on an ongoing supply of children to visit its parks, see its movies, and nag their parents for the undoubtedly overpriced merchandise, it’s not clear to me why Disney would promote a lifestyle incapable of producing, in general terms, future customers. Finding “Illuminati” and “New World Order” symbolism is a cottage industry which I have seen targeting things as diverse as the street plan of Washington D.C., the Postal Service logo, the Trinitiarian symbol on the cover of a Catholic Bible, and numerous product trademarks. If all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail.
