Would it be a mortal sin to not follow a priest’s advice or something they want you to do to avoid sin? Would that be disobedience ?

Well, it would be disobedience but, without details, it would hard to say if it’s justifiable.

I’ve questioned a priest once in my youth and came pretty much 100% full circle since. There really are powers in the universe they mess with. Use your head, question their advice and you can always go back with doubts to listen to more.

I don’t think it would be in and of itswlf sinful unless you were under his authority.

However, if the reason you refuse his advice was that you want to continue in the sin, then you have to think about whether that’s a good idea.

But maybe a priest gives you an off-the-wall bit of advice, then it might be time to get a different priest’s advice.

No, not unless you promised him to do the action. If he tells you not to eg watch pornography and you still do so anyway, you sinned by watching pornography but it does not constitute a sin of disobedience. If you didn’t take a vow of obedience to him, that is.

No, there is a sin of disobedience when we do not obey an order given by a superior in the exercise of his authority.
the Catholic is not subject to the moral authority of a priest, one is under his pastoral and liturgical authority when one working in the context of his parish.
In terms of morale, the priest must essentially transmit the authority of the magisterium, so that, even if there is disobedience, it would be a disobedience to God, and not a disobedience to the priest

I think we essentially agree but your post is a little hard to follow. My point was that anytime someone asks you to do something, and you don’t, then you are disobeying them. We would need to know more information to determine if it was a sin to do so.

The Priest is only advising you ACCORDING to what
you said in the Confessional, he doesn’t have the
Big picture of your circumstances, just ADVISING
a course of action. But you should heed his advice
seeing he does represent Christ(in Persona Christi).

the priest acts “in Persona Christi” when he pronounces words which constitute the form of the sacraments (words of absolutions, consecrations, etc.).
His advice should be taken into account because he has a theologicals and spirituals knowledges.

You have scruples. It is not a good idea for you to be asking a forum this question.

It can cause you more damage. The best person for you, to help you is your Priest. Listen to him
