Disposing of religious articles

My wife has been using the four volume liturgy of the hours for about 20 years. She just got a new set and is wondering what would be the proper way to dispose of the old ones. They’re not suitable to pass on…
 
It is my understanding that religious items, particularily those that have been Blessed are to be either buried or burned.
