I have been purchasing “7-day candle inserts” , they are long burning candles in a disposable plastic sleeve that fit in a glass holder. I have them blessed by my priest. I like this because I can switch them into different colored glass holders that tie in with the liturgical colors ( I‘m teaching my children about the liturgical colors) and I enjoy having a blessed candle burning all day. My question is, should the plastic sleeve, which is intended to be disposable, be burned or buried when I am finished with the candle? A friend suggested that since the liner was blessed along with the candle inside, it should be disposed of like any other sacramental. She also suggested removing the candle from the liner for the blessing. I tried that and the grooves along the side make it impossible. These are the same candles that burn in the front of the church in the red holders. What is the proper way to dispose of the plastic liner?

I think that it would be fine to just throw them away because I am confident that the intention of the priest was to bless the candel and not the liner.

I’m sure the priest who blesses these intends to bless the candle, not the plastic container.

Thank you both! That is kind of what I thought, but I wanted to be sure.
God bless!
