This week, I started trying to get my mother and aunt to pray the rosary daily in group, and they join me in good will . But sometimes, there are jokes between two mysteries, I laugh but after that it makes me sad, because I keep thinking that I should get more offended instead.
One time in particular, I was explaining something about the Scourging at the pillar, my aunt made some face that made me laugh. I don’t wanna laugh at something so serious as the Passion of Our Lord.

Is it sinful? Should I confess this?
Also, I have doubts if I should keep praying with them. If God and the Virgin Mary are seeing this is as a good thing, or if They are offended.
Many wise people of the Church insist that we have to keep distance from people that hold us down.
Maybe the problem is me and I should teach them better…

You could pray for them in your head while you are praying with them.

Being silly, and mockery, during any part of the Rosary, especially during the Sorrowful Mysteries, is out of place. And really during any prayer, for that matter.

They are family. You should be able to talk to them about it. But keep praying with them. A good idea is to find a good Scriptural Rosary that has a meditation before starting the decade. That might bring them into more focus.

I would confess it the next time I would go to confession but not worry about it. I would confess it as a venial sin. I don’t think it is serious, but take it as an opinion of someone who is still learning about his faith. But I don’t think it is serious. I get distracted with silly thoughts all the time while I pray.

It is a personal devotion. If they are being deliberately irreverent, then find new partners, or go it alone. I don’t think there is any sin on your part. But ask your confessor…

Sometimes funny things happen during prayers; I’ve been known to absolutely lose it! So as long as they aren’t making fun of your faith, just try to get back on track with the prayers.

If they are making fun of the rosary or the mysteries, you might want to politely refrain from praying with them. I don’t know if you’re a teen living with them or an adult who sees them often, so that could affect your response. But either way, you don’t want to get huffy & holier than thou with them.
