Disribution of animals

For a school project I have to find out what my religion/the Bible says/teaches about Darwin’s book, The Origin of Species. I got assigned chapter 12, on the distribution of animals throughout the world. I haven’t been able to find any church teachings on this. Any information or ideas where to find information about this is welcome.
The distribution of animals is basically how the animals got to where they are today. How they migrated and what caused their migration.

Do you go to a Catholic or Christian school? Seems an odd question to be talking about Darwinism and assigning questions such as this to religious students.

As far as I know (correct me if I am wrong) but the Catholic church does not have an official teaching on this particular concept. Why would it? It’s not a science book and knowing how the animals got on the different continents is not really important to the moral theology that the bible is attempting to address. If one wants to understand those particular theories, it is probably best to study them from science itself with it’s migratory theories and ‘frozen land’ bridges etc.

The bible is not a science book, and Catholicism is not science. It’s more interested in understanding God and the immortal soul, than how animals move and react. It’s interested in the why not the how. (At least in my humble opinion.)
